Talking to Myself About Spring

Picture this: me laying on my abdomen in wet pine straw in my scrubby paint clothes with fuzzy bedroom shoes on.

Then taking a photograph of a little green thing sprouting out of the earth.

I say to myself "That won't be much of a photograph."

Then I say "It's all about spring, it's on the way!"

We planted fifty daffodil bulbs in November and they are getting ready to bloom , I think, in early March.

I look at those green daffodil leaves and realise warm weather is coming soon.
The daffodils know.

Now if they bloom and get killed by frost I just will not tell you.

Okay?

  1. Woohoo! We have some coming up too and it's always so nice to see them poking their little heads up! And yes, please do not tell me if yours get killed by the cold, and I promise I won't tell you either! I love the image of you taking these photos...your neighbors must wonder what the heck you're up to!

  3. "The Making of Olive's Photos" should be a reality show. Your descriptions of how your pics get captured are a hoot!

Please have your daffs tell the daffs up here that we'd love to see some one day too - gonna be a long wait for us!

  4. I am soooo jealous. Maybe if I pull back the snow I'll find some poking up. Maybe not. I'll just have to get my spring fix through your flowers for now.

  7. Yes, I have that picture in my mind!! I can't wait to see all your daffys smiling. They can take a lot of cold, so hopefully there won't be any problems. And your photos of the barn from last post are really amazing. Love the colors!

  13. It's wonderful when you discover the little green shoots pushing through. I was clearing one of the borders yesterday and once all the dead foliage was gone, there were the little shoots of the new growth. It's a lovely time of the year.

  16. oh, Olive...this really makes me smile. You get spring so much earlier than we do...I won't see daffodils until April. Please post when they are blooming and I will be doing a little dance!
