Foxglove

Foxglove (digitalis

My first foxglove is blooming beautifully.
Why don't I have a dozen more?

Digitalis is poisonous.
I have given scads of the medical form of it at the hospital.
It is given for various heart conditions.
It is in a planter to keep it away from our cat.

I see three or five foxgloves along a white picket fence (a friend has given me a piece of picket fence) or at the base of our stone front stoop.

In Olive Out news Joe and I installed a new gas hot water heater over the weekend. It was a lot of work but think of the plumbers charges we saved. That installation snow balled into forcing me to clean the laundry room whether I wanted to or not. My laundry room is clean but will never be seen here. It is not photo material. Real life is not always pretty.

Tell me do you dream about flowers?

  3. Each bloom is so pretty and exotic. I don't think I've ever grown these. I'll have to think about the flowers in my dreams....I'm not sure if I do or not. Last night I dreamed that I bought a bunch of wine goblets....they were HUGE! But Johnny Cash bought the one that was worth the most. That's what he told my hubby anyway! hahaha! I have the craziest dreams! lol Hugs, Diane

  4. I just love Foxgloves - they are one of my favorite flowers in my gardens.
You are so lucky to be able to put in your own hot water heater - I just had one put in and it cost me $1,500.00 to have it installed. The last one about 12 years ago was only about $300.00 as I had a neighbor put it in and that was for heater and his cost. prices are getting out of hand.
    Have fun in your garden.

  5. Olive, You sound like me now...my basement is where I have my washer and dryer...and it is just that ...a basement and storage..not pretty and not ever going to be ..It has a TV for weather reports, exercise equipment and all my craft and art stuff. plus everything that is stored in plastic bins....and who knows what that is. It was good that you and Joe could do your own plumbing....Ted says you do not want to be a plumber cause their motto is, "Your poop is our bread and butter".. Gross. Ted was a pipefitter at work, he does plumbing too. LOL. xoxo,Susie

  6. I've never had Foxglove in my garden - but I never knew it was poisonous either! Kudos to you and Joe for installing your own water heater. That's a huge job! We got a new water heater last summer, but we certainly didn't install it, lol. We are SO not handy. Believe me, you wouldn't want to see my laundry room/dungeon either. Maybe "some day" (oh, there's that famous phrase again) if I ever get it totally cleared out and organized, I'll post photos. Don't hold your breath. ;-)

  7. Isn't it strange how some things in nature that are so beautiful can be so dangerous. Your foxglove is gorgeous!

  8. I've never had foxglove in my yard - now, I wonder why? It's so pretty and different looking. Good work on the water heater, and I understand the issue of the "real life" laundry room!

  16. Oh, your foxglove is beautiful! So you don't have a chandelier hanging in your laundry room? Neither do I and I think my husband might think I've gone off the deep end if I ever put one in there!
