Tablescapes 2012

Nearly A Tablescape with a vintage quilt in April.

Red Willow On Wire Tray is my favorite.
Maybe.

Old Castles Of Britain in October.
Or this one is my favorite?

Plumbers Toolbox had lots of lovely comments in November.
Tablescapes are greatly visited posts at Olive Out.
Thank you for enjoying them.
Your comments and friendships keep me blogging.

~loot~

I have won three give a ways in the month of December.
Two have arrived.

From my friend Beth at Elizardbreath I won a purse
and a bottomless box of goodies.
Many are not pictured because we ate all the
chocolate and drank the chai latte.
Thanks to Beth I am now drinking chai lattes all the time:}

From Kim at La Belle E'poque Home I won all this French loot and she made the banner.
I love that vintage French #31 sign.

Thanks bunches Beth and Kim

I am still learning my new camera and do better with outside shots by far.
 Inside shots exasperate me still.

Mimosas

Ingredients
1 Cup orange juice

1 (750 ml) bottle champagne

1/2 Cup grenadine

Directions
Fill 8 flutes 1/4 full with orange juice. Top 3/4 full with champagne. Slide two tablespoons grenadine down the side of each flute. This allows the syrup to go to the bottom of the drink and makes it pretty. Joe laughs at me because it has to be pretty.  I add a cherry*

We serve these for breakfast or brunch Christmas morning
but they are good any time.

Cat Puppy

 Good morning friends.
I hope you had a beautiful Christmas day.
We did.
I scaled back the festivities to brunch for four.
It was a relaxed and lovely meal.

Sheldon Cooper Shepherd Puppy is now over 80 pounds
 and we are never bored.
That is why Clovis is on the dining table (where he in not supposed to be).
I still call them the Fight Club with Clovis being the aggressor.
Shelley wants to play.

This is my normal shot of Shelley and why you do not see him often.
He is a large motion machine.

We had grits casserole, hash brown casserole, and biscuits for brunch.
Followed by mimosas.
Then we all, including Shelley, took a nap.
CC wanted to see Les Miserables.
I read Victor Hugo's classic in my twenties (loved it).
This movie adaptation of the Broadway musical was pretty good.
 Be warned it is long.
They gave us the senior citizen and child discount.
CC is not a child and I am not a senior citizen
 (Joe does qualify).
Grey hair strikes again.

Tell me about your holiday.

Noel Noel

The poinsettias are thriving still.
I won the Joyeux Noel banner from Kimberly Hites
She stamped it beautifully.
The wire deer was chilly so he got a scarf.
The vintage green Noel letters are on the buffet.
Really, I have done next to nothing in the house as CC
had four appointments this week and I had one.
The holiday traffic is enough to make one wish for
anti-anxiety medication if one were so inclined.

This Christmas is the first one in thirty years I have not baked.
It seems strange but I cannot get to it.

I hope you are faring better than I at your holiday celebrations.

Happy Christmas

Breadboard

This is my huge breadboard.
I imagine it is for decorative purposes only
due to it's width and length.
It has to lean against a wall.

It is new but made from an old Hungarian building.
I did pay too much for it.
Rarely do I splurge but when I do I go big.
I bought it at a local store in the county our old house is in.
Buying local is important to me.
To see my other breadboard click here.

I hope y'all had a wonderful weekend.
We are enjoying spending time with CC.
If I am not commenting or posting as much here
 it's because
I am with our darling girl.

Neutral Christmas Vignette

My second white bottle brush wreath was hung from the oval chippy wreath.
I found that chippy wood piece at an estate sale.
I like it's patina.

Every item on the table including the table itself is thrifted.

The bottle brush wreaths came from Big Lots two years ago.

In Olive Out news CC is home.
That sentence seems far too mild as the actual act of getting her home involved twelve hours of hard hard work. We moved her from a dorm to an on campus apartment yesterday. We had Shelley Puppy with us to add to the fun. Then drove back in the rain. I felt as if I had been thrown down the stairs today. I need to shut up and quit my fussing because she will not be in the country this time next year. She will be a student in Korea and will miss Thanksgiving and Christmas with us. We are still in our pajamas and may not move further than the coffee pot today.

Living Room at Christmas

I added more red this year.
The Christmas tree is unchanged.
I continue to have lots of foot stools and cloches.
You can see the hearth here and details of the living room here.

Living Room Christmas Details

The yellow house living room has gone red and white for Christmas.
The toile pillow cover and bottle brush tree are perfect together.

A detail of one of a pair of red tasseled pillows I picked up at an estate sale.

Silver ornaments in a favorite glass dish.

Reindeer prancing beside a chippy wood piece.
All gentle reminders of the blessed season.

Full living room and Christmas tree in next post.

Red Transferware

Since I acquired a set of red transferware this summer
I am going to use it for Christmas.
So many of you are doing the same and are a great inspiration to me.

I have more dishes in this set.
I still have not decided if I am preparing brunch on Christmas morning.
I better hurry with that decision.

I laugh every time I look at these photos.
I cannot keep spoons half way straight in a stacked tablescape.
Just think what horrible errors I would make if I actually set a full table.
I shudder to think of it.

Two Warm&Fuzzies

Do you feel more accomplished some days than others?
Yesterday was a wash out.
Today is a great improvement.

The good news is my Blogroll is up and running
at the top of the blog under Daily Blog Reading.
I get a warm fuzzy feeling every time I manipulate HTML code
and I do not crash the blog.
If you do not find your site there let me
know and I will add it.
Two or three folks I know I follow are not appearing on the list.
I prefer a Blogroll to a Reader.

The second warm and fuzzy thing that happened today
is that my house got a deep cleaning.
My little sister Terrible T (an old nickname) did it.
She washes cabinets, cleans baseboards, and ceiling fans.
I paid her of course.
I cannot get the entire house clean at one time any more.
Could it be because I am blogging?

No, that cannot be it.

Do you prefer a Blogroll or a Reader to find your favorite blogs?
