I drive by this old brick chimney often when traveling between houses. I like that it is majestic and the last part of the house that is standing.
Close by it is an old shack of sorts. I crept up to it, past the "No Trespassing" sign to take these photos.
Joe will get me out of jail if I get in big trouble taking pictures with my wee little camera.
If I could I would roam the Southern landscape all the time. These chimneys and old shacks are fading fast.
I am joining A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday.

How cool! Hearth and Home, what more is there:@)
ReplyDeleteThat is a cool, old chimney. Makes me wonder about the house that once stood there and the families that called it home.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

Don't you wonder about who all lived in the poor little olden places? I know I do. Great photos too.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
shleia ;)
Little pieces of history that are disappearing right in front of our eyes....
ReplyDeleteOooh Olive, what fabulous photos!... I love that old chimney and the shack nearby... I can just hear the stories they are telling right now and the voices from the past... how fun it would be to wander around the South with you... my imagination is already running wild... please post more of your beautiful photos like these!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteMaybe there will be too many absolutely glorious things to look at and rejoice in when we get to heaven, but I imagine I will want to see time rewind and see all these old places as they were when they were whole. And new.
ReplyDeleteHave a most wonderful day, Olive!
So glad you trespassed! That's how you get the really cool stuff. I come from a long line of trespassing photogs.
ReplyDeleteIt was worth the risk Olive! How did you get that texture on your pictures? Just lovely. Ann
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about all the old barns between here and my parents. I swear every time we go visit my Mom and Dad another one has fallen and/or disappeared.
ReplyDeleteThe first photo is particularly effective.
Love these shots. Oh that shack! I want to peek inside...

That is one thing I always associate with old-style American building, Olive - building the fireplace first, and the rest of the house around it in wood. You could do the same with this one!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely subjects for a photo, Olive. You've certainly got an eye for photography. I am literally just waiting for a new camera to arrive in the post, so I am quite excited, as I love take photos too. Hope I'm not disappointed with it. Can't wait to start practising with it.
ReplyDeleteThere is something so stoic about those long standing chimeys...I always wonder about the families & homes that use to surround them~
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year :-)
Great "eye". Happy New Year!

Love shots like this. We will help bail you out!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful images!
ReplyDeleteI love the chimney. My grandmother's brother lived down the road a little way from the original family homestead. All that was left of the house was the chimney. Your post brought back a long ago memory of driving to Uncle Earl's and knowing we were near when I saw the old chimney. I wonder if it still stands. Perhaps we'll try to find it this week, while we are in the Ozarks.
lots of old barns where I come from ... Indiana ...
ReplyDeleteroad trip!!

I love these shot of this old place. I often wonder about the history behind them. Also, if they could talk, what stories we could hear.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! I love the old chimneys scattered around our countryside...stalwart steeples of past dwellings. Wouldn't it be nice to know about the people who used to build fires and warm themselves around those chimneys. Lovely post! Vicki
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love that last photo. What a brilliant effect it creates....as though you're rushing along.
ReplyDeleteI love old buildings too. They have so much character, don't they?
