In the South Sweet Gum trees are plentiful.
I shot these photos off a very high deck that is almost in the tree canopy.
I had to play with the oddly almost alien like sweet gum balls on my editing program.

That looks like fun to play with the photos like that. Way cool.
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of sweet gums around here too, and I love the way you played around with your photos! I also love your wonderful vintage fan from your last post and I'm glad that you are feeling well again!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Hi Olive! OH, you're good. These snaps looks great!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
That is cool Olive!
ReplyDeleteI love the unexpected twist of the neon!
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, but in the first photo do they look kinda like those medieval weapons?
Deb

Olive- I wonder if you could shabby-paint these white????????
ReplyDeleteJeanine, ChiPPy!-SHaBBy!
Awesome photos! But those little buggers are such a mess, eeeeck! Are these critters in your yard?
ReplyDeleteHope you're enjoying early Spring,
love ya bunches,
Debra
Are the little balls used for anything, Olive? Can you chew them like Juicy Fruit?
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever woman you are, Olive...these are great shots! I haven't played with Photoshop but just may try today. That first pic would make a great Thank-You card or an I-Love-You note..very creative...:)

You certainly seem to have fun playing with an editing programme, great results.

Do the trees grow to any sort of height? We have a weed here which grows to about three feet high in the summer months and produces those spiky little menaces. It is an absolute pain! Love your photos! xx
ReplyDeleteSweet gum. So that's what they're called.
ReplyDeleteGreat variations! I heard of someone collecting the little balls, spray painting them gold and selling them in 4 packs for Christmas ornaments.
Gardening, as you've been doing.....I shall do it vicariously through you..except for the feeling like you've been thrown down the steps part!
Hi Olive!
ReplyDeleteWell, that was fun to see the different photo options!
Tom-the sap is sweet and has been used for medicinal purposes. It can heal skin ailments.
ReplyDeleteMolly-they grow very tall and the balls go every where and are easy to fall over as you walk on the side of the street.
Love what your did with them
ReplyDeleteBwahahahahaha! I love this! Especially the neon version- just awesome.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo. At first I thought you had drawn a sketch. I really, really need to learn some of this stuff.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! laurie
ReplyDeleteHow creative you are! I need to learn how to do this too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comments and visits recently. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get over here to visit but I am trying to visit as many of bloggy friends as possible. I will hopefully be back to more regular blogging now that the kids are back at school and our renovations are nearly finished after the flooding we had.
Have a great Friday and best wishes for a gorgeous weekend!
Natasha.

The neon version reminds me of little disco balls...
ReplyDeleteSweet gum trees. I didn't know that is what they're called. I collected a bag of those last fall thinking they would look interesting in a bowl.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos. You have such a talent for capturing beautiful outdoor photos.
Have a great weekend.
Jane
