A lighthouse birdhouse of sorts.
CC and I went to a small estate sale early Friday morning and found the lighthouse.
The four new orchid pots {one dollar each} were from a garage sale later that day. I cannot grow orchids at all :(
The decor books are from the estate sale and the wood bowl is from the consignment store where I sell some items to support this habit I have.
Thrifting habit that is.
The bowl has some paint splatter but no matter I am enamored of it and have watched it in that store for some time and finally bought it for twenty dollars which, for me, is a lot. Really that is not a bad price. Right?
Look at those beautiful lines on that bowl.
Friday was pretty dismal thrifting wise and Saturday Joe and I took the day off and rested.
The lady that runs the consignment store was appalled that I was not not out garage sale'n and was in her shop collecting my money and shopping instead. I thought that was pretty funny. I suppose it is kind of a backwards compliment as she wants me to find more goodies! She wants "modern" items also. Not vintage. I sold the tackiest lamp you have ever seen last week. I would not dare put a photo of it on this blog. So I buy items I do not like.
How about that?
How about that?

I would love to go thrifting with you. I bet we'd have so much fun. Love the lighthouse thing you bought and the bowl too. Hope you're having a nice day.
ReplyDeleteI love your lighthouse find. There are no sales like that around here, so I just see what you buy and dream...... Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteNice finds and solid wood bowls are quite expensive so I say you did good. I sell stuff at a consignment shop, too and need to take a truck load over if I ever get around to it.
ReplyDeleteWhat great finds! It is so much fun coming home with such great goodies isn't it...You did good!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Cindy
I love that bowl! Yes,yes,go and do some more shopping for the lady!
ReplyDeletethe bowl has a great patina...good buy!
ReplyDeleteOlive = I really am so, so envious of you and your estate sales and garage sales! You always find such wonderful things. I love those pots and, especially, that lighthouse birdhouse. Lovely photos as always.
ReplyDeleteThat lighthouse could be a cloche with the open bottom-I love it Olive! Sounds like you had a nice weekend:@)
ReplyDeleteYou got some great finds there...that bowl is beautiful! There are so many ways I could think of using that lighthouse...wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove the birdcage and the pots, plus the bowls are wonderful. You found some really great treasures. Loe it all. Hugs, marty
ReplyDeleteOh come on! Post the tacky lamp!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should start a "Tacky Tuesday" link party or something -- we could all feature our tacky stuff ... and you know we ALL have some.
Well, I do, anyway.
I think consignment stores are a brilliant business concept -- your stock is FREE.
Hmm.. maybe I should open one. I could stock it with my own overflow!
Cass
And by the way -- the wooden bowl is gorgeous, well worth twenty bucks. You can go all fancy and call it Treen Ware, and everyone will think you paid hundreds for it.
ReplyDeleteWhy not?

Hi Olive, what great finds!... I especially love your lighthouse~birdhouse, too cute!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteWe all need a day off from garage saling {I shouldn't say that since I haven't started since the weather has changed!}.
ReplyDeleteLove your pots...I can always use those!
XO,
Jane
That's a nice unusual cage! Looks great on your table. I'm glad you got your bowl!
ReplyDeleteHi Olive, I guess we all have our addictions--mine is dishes! Never met one I didn't think I could use somewhere! Love your lighthouse. I take things to consignment too, but if they are too awful I make hubby take them in! :) Linda
ReplyDeleteI love your new purchases. The way I grow orchids is just by leaving them inthe gazebo. They just get a splash of water when I am watering the hanging planters...Christine
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I need to go thrifting with you!!
ReplyDeleteLove,

Hi Olive, you found some truly awesome deals. That Light House is wonderful, and the pots a steal. But ohhhh the bowl. First off, if you've loved something a while, you just have to have it. And nope, not too much at all for such an amazing bowl. And think of all the uses. A regular mixing bowl from the store can run upwards of $50 if you get a good one, but this one is sensational. You did well. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful finds Olive! I love the cage!
ReplyDeleteLove your finds!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
That is a neat light house cage. It would look great in a pot with a vine. The wooden bowl is very cool. Great patina.
ReplyDeleteLove those clay pots. Put petunias in them instead.
ReplyDeleteOh the pots and the lighthouse, I would make such good use of those, not that i am envious you understand. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool lighthouse -it has so many decorating possibilities! I would be very proud to have that wooden bowl, too. Now even if you don't use those terra cotta pots to grow orchids, they can be used for other plants. They have a great shape to them. I'll be trying to get rid of many things this weekend at my own porch sale. If these things go- I have more room for other goodies! LOL

Wow, Olive, You found some great things. Love the light house and clay pots. They are so nice and tall. Funny that the consignment shop only wanting modern things. But that's not bad, they you can sell that to her and keep the goodies you like.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your new finds,
Babs
You found some lovely things. The wire lighthouse is very cool and I also like the orchid pots. So glad that great bowl waited for you to purchase it!
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah. I would have paid $20 for that bowl. So many things you can do with it too. Hope you're enjoying the weekend. It's hot here, so I'm staying inside and catching up on some blogs!
