Have you ever met anyone who did not like wicker? I haven’t. Now I have seen some I might have been hesitant to sit in but it is all lovely. Some of the cheaper inexpensive wicker is not what I am referring to. Charleston, South Carolina Battery residents paint their wicker a dark green. I prefer the traditional white. I have recently seen a neat teal on wicker on some of the blogs. Whatever wicker color you have it is all yummy. Yes?
I have this small wicker box on our dresser at the yellow house. It has this interesting bow. It is discolored in a few places and I am wondering if I should spray paint it or just leave it alone. What do you think?
Then I look at the box or basket again and think maybe it is not wicker at all. No matter. I like it. It is useful to hold objects on my dresser. It is old and white. Which brings me to Kathleen at Faded Charm. The white part brings me to her not the old part ya’ll! I am linking to her for White Wednesday. I am also linking with Suzanne for Vintage Thingie Thursday over at Coloradolady.

Whatever it is I like it.
ReplyDeleteOh how cute is that! It's so unique, I love it no matter what it's made out of:) Thank you so much for visiting my blog...happy WW!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Olive! I think is definitely wicker and I wouldn't paint it...there is just something about age that makes everything (and everyone) more appealing!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it and all things wicker. I wouldn't paint it!
ReplyDeleteI would leave it the way it is....has so much character. Very nice.

Love wicker too, but I do find it just eats up the paint, even with primer, any ideas??
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by earlier!

Oh, leave it the way it is. It is just perfect.

That's the cutest piece of wicker ever! I love it, and I say leave it as is. Now I need to read some more of your blog, because I want to know more about this yellow house!
ReplyDeleteHappy White Wednesday!

I just had to come back and tell you congrats on your weight loss! Definitely give yourself a pat on the back. I just went back on a diet this week, trying to incorporate more fruit, vegetables and fish. I'm hopeful that with a little willpower, I can do it. Again, many congrats to you!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute. Personally I would leave it as is, I like the imperfectness and the metal latch thing is cute in a slightly distressed chippy way.
ReplyDeletelove the white whicker very pretty
ReplyDeleteLooks like wicker to me and I would leave it as it is. Too cute!
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!
Blessings~
I love wicker...I have it all over my front porch! I love the worn look of old wicker.

Oh Olive, it's darling!
ReplyDeleteLooks like wicker to me. :-)
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

That is an unusual wicker basket. I enjoyed visiting your blog and seeing this neat basket. I like it white.
ReplyDeleteSuch a unique piece. I love it and I would leave it just the way it is.
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot. I'd use it for a sewing box. I have wicker chairs in my living room that are very old. They aren't the usual white or shiny wicker, they are very matte and have a lacy pattern. People are afraid to sit in them, but they've worked for over 100 years and carried people of a couple hundred pounds, so I don't worry.
ReplyDeleteThe bow is so unique. This is a great piece.
ReplyDeleteI made the mistake of putting my wicker in the basement for the winter and hubby has taken possesion with no sign of giving it up. He says it is sooo comfortable to watch t.v.
That looks like a useful piece. If you paint it, it will lose its character.
ReplyDeleteI am a wicker fan, too. I have some old and some new. The old I love as is and if I had that gorgeous box of yours, I'd let it stay as charming as it is now!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend, Olive! :-)

What an amazing piece. That is really a great thing to keep treasures in!! I just love it!! Have a great VTT!
ReplyDeleteWOW I love your little basket. It is adorable! Happy VTT!
ReplyDeleteIf you paint it, the wicker may weaken and nt hold up as long. I like the varigated color it has now.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very pretty box and you could go either way. I know that I have painted something and later was sad that I did. The old paint and it's patina has its charm.
ReplyDeleteI would paint it a
ReplyDeletecolor that makes
you smile.....or
not, if white is
what makes you smile!
You could even paint
it and then sand it
to give it a little
distressing, since
I know you like patina.
Good luck....and
please share if you paint!
xx Suzanne
I like my wicker to be all white or all natural so I would spray paint it white for a clean fresh look. Here on Hilton Head I prefer all white wicker in my beach home.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what you decide to do, I love it.
ReplyDeletekeep us posted (pun intended)!

White Spray Paint
wow this is one unique basket and very rare shape.. I would spray paint it white, or pink or aqua or teal.. the basket still looks pretty..
ReplyDeleteFor you, I'd say leave it just the way it is. Of course I'd have the spray paint out in a heartbeat...
ReplyDeleteSo unique with the bow on top. If I did paint it, it be a soft pink. Happy VTT
ReplyDeleteThat wicker bow is to die for. I just love it as is. Of course it would look great painted too. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment on my shopping binge post! I'm off to check out your yellow house now...

Lovely wicker bo. Thansk for following. My wicker is white but I have seen it painted black and it looked really nice!
ReplyDeleteThat is so wonderful! I've never seen a wicker box before, thanks so much for sharing it with us.
