~~Seven Questions~~

Rachel from * French Farmhouse 425 *tagged me with these questions.

* Where do you currently live?

We live in a very old house in middle Georgia and we have another house seventy miles away near the Savannah River.

*Are you living in your dream home? Or are you dreaming of the home you will live in someday?029

Our second home, the yellow house, was purchased with the idea of what we wanted in a vacation home and later a permanent home.

It has a stone fireplace, a woodstove, a beautiful large yard, a hot-tub, and a great neighborhood. It is smaller than the old house and I can keep it clean.

Maintaining the large old house is cost intensive and it is just too big for us.

It is a fading southern antebellum house that needs a tremendous amount of 029

*Where do you draw most of your inspiration from for your home decor?

I gather inspiration from books, magazines, friends, and now blogs. I do not like new furniture.eggs black pt 058

*If you could change something about yourself what would you change?

I would have studied history instead of science and nursing. But no regrets, nursing was very good to me.

*What is your biggest accomplishment?

I have two!

1.My daughter, CC, she has grown into a fine and Godly young lady. She is my magnum opus.

birthday 48 2010 0222. A happy and fulfilling marriage with my darling Joe.

*What do you love the most about your family?

The simple things.

Coffee and a homemade breakfast with all three of us there. Just talking and being together. Then going out to garage sales on Saturday or to church on Sunday.

*What do you think your family loves the most about you?
Possibly my twisted sense of humor. Joe likes my cooking.

There is one  unmentioned member of the family who is vastly important and he lives his life sitting near me or on me.

The C-Cat. I love him to pieces. To say he is grouchy would be an understatement.

He is jealous of the laptop for obvious reasons.birthday 48 2010 012

Instead of tagging other bloggers please tell me something unusual about yourself in the comments.

grace surrounds us

  1. I love your answers and getting to know you better. Great ending! SO much better than another tag...I love comments that keep the conversation rolling.

Something unusual about myself. Hmmmmm...I am THE most normal person you will ever meet. Good enough I guess for off the top of my head!! lol!

  2. Love your answers too. It is always so nice to get to know someone better.

Something unusual about me is at one time I was a Lumber and Building Materials buyer for a very large Home Center chain.

    Hugs, Marty

  3. Great post! I liked reading your answers. :)

What you may call unusual about me is my love for spiders! Yep, I am utterly fascinated and infatuated with them. So delicate and interesting. :)

  4. Hi Olive! OH, it was nice to learn more about you!!

Don't know if there is anything unusual about me. I'm really short! LOL
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia :)

  5. How fun to have a dream house for a getaway. Really interesting facts I learned about you. My joke this month has been that I can add to my resume that I am an amazing interior designer - of trailers at hunting camps!! What an accomplishment! My husband and son like what I did though. laurie

  6. Enjoyed your blog and post. Thanks for sharing some of your personal life with us. You sound like a great, happy family. You can click on my pictures for Blue Monday and it makes it some bigger. These were made by cell phone.

  7. It was fun to learn more about you, Olive! Something about me...I was an Air Force Brat, living in many places~ including 3-1/2 years as a child in Japan...

  8. ~*~*Love getting to know more about you Olive!! Your cat is too cute for words..and he does look grouchy!!lol~**~Hugs, Rachel ~*~*

  9. Great post! Unusual about me...I work for a Harley-Davidson dealership as their Marketing & Events Coordinator & webmaster. I look NOTHING like a Harley Chick!! And...I also live in GA!!

  10. Hi Olive,
Great post and so nice to learn more about you.
Something about me.....I have pretty much come full circle in terms of where I have lived. Grew up in Kansas and moved to Ohio right out of college. Got married and moved with my family to Wisconsin, then to Minnesota, then to California and finally back to the midwest where I currently live 40 miles from my parents and my childhood home. As Dorothy would say "There's no place like home".
    Have a great week.

  11. First I would have to agree...our children are our masterpieces!
Second something unusual about me? Hmmm...that I am actually quite shy and nervous in crowds.

  12. It's fun to know you better, Olive. As far as something unusual about me, I think that the fact that I met my Husband and married him in less than 3 months is pretty shocking to many. We have been happily married for 20...however, if my kids do the same: I kill them!!!! LOL!!!!!

  13. Hey Olive!
I loved this post and loved reading more about you!!!! I love that you are content with your life and your precious family..not many people can say that!

ps...don't believe Debbie up above...Nervous? now really! ;)

I love coming here to read your "positive-ness"
you are such an inspiration :)))

  14. I live in Georgia too. I enjoyed the post. Unusual...I am on my 3rd marriage(3rd times a charm....)

  15. about me? well I think you already know this. I am the odd duck swimming the wrong direction in the wrong lake, while all other ducks have migrated. and I like it that way..... most of the time.

  16. C-Cat does look a little grumpy.

One thing you don't know about me is that I am an incredibly picky eater and will only eat things that I ate as a child.

  17. Something unusual about me? I have all the same answers that you do, Olive, above!!! Except that our current house is our dream house, and I would have studied the same thing that I did (career choice). But everything else, from the hubby, the daughter, all of it are things we have in common!
No wonder I follow your blog so avidly!

I adore your comments. They are like finding unexpected chocolates. olive
