Our dining table is now ready for Christmas day.
I am inspired by all of you, my friends, who spend time setting china, placing flatware, choosing the perfect center piece, and then keeping it all straight for the camera.
I cannot do it.
I can do this.
The cut holly is from our garden.
Joe and I have been adding to our collection of glass ornaments.
The white dishes are from Gibson and we bought about forty pieces for four dollars at a garage sale and the white is the right white. Know what I mean?
The three wise men were found at a garage sale in the spring and we had forgotten about them and were pleasantly surprised when we opened the box.
I had these velvet wired ribbons made about seven years ago and they still look wonderful every year.
An astute reader asked what I was going to place in our folk frame. I do like it empty but when I found this chubby heart at Goodwill I knew it was going here.
That is my non-tablescape tablescape inspired by all you talented blogger friends.
We are cooking a casual brunch for six, for Christmas morning, that will be served buffet style.
The menu is still in the works.
I will be stacking my dishes on the bar, shocking it is not.

Would love to have a holly bush in our yard this time of the year to take clippings from. It's just so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove your dining room! The berries, wise men, and sweet heart of your fantastic frame...so pretty Olive!
ReplyDeleteThe heart looks just perfect in that frame. I love those folk art frames. My grandmother had one that I always admired. The three wise men are lovely - don't you just love it when you rediscover something wonderful that you had forgotten about?

I love the centerpiece of the three wise men. How lucky you are to have your own holly bush!!
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
Isn't it just so much fun to unwrap things and discover such treasures? We forget what we have put away from previous Christmas's, as well as the goodies we stash away from yard sales! LOL I ♥ your wisemen.
ReplyDeleteI love your centerpiece, Olive. I love your 3 Kings!..Christine
ReplyDeleteLove the three gilded Taliban!
ReplyDeleteYour holly is so healthy~ there is nothing prettier on a table than fresh clipped greenery! LOVE your framed chubby heart ♥
ReplyDeleteGoodness me you are very organised, it looks lovely
ReplyDeleteLove the pretty plaid, and those camels are perfect! I'm your newest follower, btw:-) Merry Christmas! Suzanne
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect. You have a good eye for yard sale finds (: Have a very blessed Christmas.
ReplyDeleteTom-you are giving me a chuckle this early in the morning.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to justify your table setting with me! Have you noticed that I haven't set ONE pretty table since I've been blogging? I'm a very casual kind of girl who prefers buffet style. Now, I'm not a paperplates, plastic cup type person either, but I don't usually set super layered over the top tables. I'm sure your brunch will be good and taste just as good on your non-set table. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI think everything looks delightful. Love those Three Kings. Happy Chtristmas! Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteI think that I would miss Northern Christmas's but I do love to visit my SoCal inlaws at Christmas and people in more temperate climates do get to have wonderful things like holly - how lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love it all! Your hurricane filled ornaments are beautiful and I'm totally digging your wise men!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to my party!

I love your un-tablescaped table. I always prefer a buffet anyhow. Great deal on your china.
ReplyDeleteWe all know by now just what a good eye you have for things like this my friend. I absolutely adore that Three Wise Men centrepiece, and love the velvet ribbons hanging down. That was inspired! I too like to glass baubles in the cloche (or glass vase!). We have several holly trees outside, so I will be picking fresh foliage to bring in for the day. Your preparations are obviously well in hand!
ReplyDeleteHow nice to be able to pick holly from your own garden. Everything looks great and brunch will be delicious, I am sure. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteUmmm but you just "did" it! Everything looks wonderful Olive! Though I'm with you on the buffet style and stacked plates. It just works better with lots of people *winks* Though I'd love to have a 12' table so everyone could sit down together. Vanna
