How I Ended Up In A Camera Store Today

See this girl?

She gets the credit or the blame for me being in a camera store today.
She is holding a 35mm camera that she will be using for a Photography class.
B&W 35mm film is quite difficult to find in this digital age.

That is how we ended up at Cokes Camera in Macon, Georgia.
It is an independent family owned store with superb customer service.
B&W film and 8x10 glossy sheets for the dark room are not cheap y'all.

All that to say I BOUGHT A NEW CAMERA.
A Canon Power Shot SX30IS.
WOO HOO!
Mr. George Coke put it together for me and showed me all it's features.
It is similar to the Rebel, a little slower but not as expensive.
I must stay true to my thrifty beliefs especially while that cutie above is in college.

Look at these images of an old bridge and a railroad track. Some have zero editing. Some I cropped a bit.
I can Zoom Baby Zoom now!

Y'all know how I adore arches. These were kind of charming with the hauntingly beautiful vines all over them.
So now I have started a new journey and I have promised Joe I will read the manual (on CD) about the new camera. Pinkie swear.

I leave you with my favorite photo from today.

Have a splendid weekend friends!
It is going to snow in Georgia, again on Monday, but I have much to occupy my time. *Wink*

  2. If I had known I could have given you my old canon slr. I've been looking and researching to buy a new camera. I think I've narrowed it down. I won't even tell you what I'm willing to spend...it's sinful but I've been a good girl this year....haha

Have fun with your new baby! photos are great!

  3. Oh...I'm jealous....I want a new camera but I don't have my old one paid off yet. I'll be anxious to see how your new photos turn out. I'm thinking my next camera needs to be one with the fancy lenses...but I don't really enjoy the technical part of taking photos...

I just read as little as I could of the manual that came with the camera I have now. I told myself in the new year...I'd try to learn some new things about it. And have I don't it yet?...no.

  12. Your photos are great, as always Olive. Have fun playing with the new baby. My new camera has arrived, but it's only one that I can slip into my pocket, but it has a much better zoom. It's the Canon IXUS 1000 HD, so I'm looking forward to playing with that. Hope you're enjoying the weekend.

  19. Wonderful photos, Olive!

We sent our granddaughter to Rocky Mountain School of Photography, for the summer intensive program, when she was 18. It was in Montana. Her folks paid for the equipment and we paid the tuition, which was pretty pricey, but she learned so much. She continues her love of photography and has done professional work. She's 20 and still studying.

    Enjoy your new camera.

  23. Love, love, love those photos!!!!
I finally got snow and then some...LOL! Getting 2 days off from work, with snow, is the good life:-)
You could have come and visited me while you were in Macon...just down the road, ya know?:)
We have a Canon Rebel, but I stick with my lime green Fuji FinePix Z, we get along great together.
Enjoy the snow, and hope your roof stops leaking. Old houses are worth all their quirks. Vicki
