Growing With Wild Abandon At The Old House

Lady Banksia or Lady Banks Roses

Growing with wild abandon at the old house.

We planted these two roses four years ago and forgot to prune them last year.

This image is whackado but I like the chippy window so it is in the post.

It is best not to forget.

They require vigorous pruning.

Can we say out of control?

They are planted beside the old 1950's beauty shop that is connected to the house.

Don't you have a beauty shop in your house from the 1950's?

You really should.

Great storage.

This is my header image

Old houses are interesting.

The stories this house could tell us.

Can you tell spring flowers are on my mind?

What's on your mind?

grace surrounds us

  3. What a beautiful rose!
what happens if it is pruned?
    Do you feed it?
    If so, what?

    It is just lovely!

  4. When pruned Laura it is just the same just better behaved on the trellis. I throw some of that Bayer Rose stuff on it per directions about two times a year. Laura I kill most roses, I cannot kill this one if I tried. Lady Banksia is easy. It is lovely on a fence as well.

  5. I would be happier with warmer temps and no snow... :)

Ironically, because of my self imposed snowman challenge snowmen are on my mind - just not the snow... :)

Those are gloriously gorgeous roses though - worth the efforts, I bet.

  11. Beautiful photos of that rambling rose. I think I like it not pruned!! How wonderful to have an old beauty salon for storage. The clocks went forward an hour here in England last evening, so I am very much thinking of spring at the moment and all the lovely spring flowers that are appearing at the moment. Happy days!

  22. Oh gosh! You must be SO much closer to Spring weather than we are. It's been raining and try to snow here for 3 days, and the weather person says 3 more before the sun shines. Oh wait - I seriously looked up while writing this and its no longer TRYING to snow - it's snowing. Ugh! Thanks for sharing - yellow roses are my favorite. They were my wedding flower - with white daisies. Sandi
