Lady Banksia or Lady Banks Roses
Growing with wild abandon at the old house.
We planted these two roses four years ago and forgot to prune them last year.
This image is whackado but I like the chippy window so it is in the post.
It is best not to forget.
They require vigorous pruning.
Can we say out of control?
They are planted beside the old 1950's beauty shop that is connected to the house.
Don't you have a beauty shop in your house from the 1950's?
You really should.
Great storage.
This is my header image
Old houses are interesting.
The stories this house could tell us.
Can you tell spring flowers are on my mind?
What's on your mind?
grace surrounds us
Olive
How cool to have your own beauty shop. lol Love the rose bush that has gone wild. Great shots.
ReplyDeletelove yellow roses...do you remember the name of it?
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful rose!
ReplyDeletewhat happens if it is pruned?
Do you feed it?
If so, what?
It is just lovely!
Laura
When pruned Laura it is just the same just better behaved on the trellis. I throw some of that Bayer Rose stuff on it per directions about two times a year. Laura I kill most roses, I cannot kill this one if I tried. Lady Banksia is easy. It is lovely on a fence as well.
ReplyDeleteI would be happier with warmer temps and no snow... :)
ReplyDeleteIronically, because of my self imposed snowman challenge snowmen are on my mind - just not the snow... :)
Those are gloriously gorgeous roses though - worth the efforts, I bet.
I have a rose like that too but in white. We didn't trim last year either and it is growing up and out of a tree.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to remember the name of that rose, Olive!
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely against the wall.
I wish to see a picture of the whole house now, please. *blink. blink.*
These gorgeous roses look perfect against your house!!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Oh Olive they're so beautifully out of control! *winks* And I CERTAINLY wish I had a 1950's beauty shop attached to my house! That weathered window is divine! Vanna
ReplyDeleteLove Banksia roses, when they flower they are delightful:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of that rambling rose. I think I like it not pruned!! How wonderful to have an old beauty salon for storage. The clocks went forward an hour here in England last evening, so I am very much thinking of spring at the moment and all the lovely spring flowers that are appearing at the moment. Happy days!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Olive and your rose bush is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day,
Gail
Beautiful roses Olive, and that's a great shot for your header-enjoy:@)

Beautiful! Oh the stories old houses could tell, especially the ones with beauty shops attached!
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful...ahhhh I can almost smell them from here!
ReplyDeleteHi Olive, oooh your roses are just stunning!... and I love roses growing with wild abandon!... I'm not one for close trimmed and manicured gardens, I love the wild look... I also love old houses like you do, and yes, I would love an old shop of any kind attached to my house!... thanks for always sharing such beautiful images... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos. I love your new header photo.
ReplyDeleteI never know what to do with roses...the bugs always get them.
Olive I have a lady banks growing wild too..I will show it soon. Lovely shots. Have a great Sunday.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh! You must be SO much closer to Spring weather than we are. It's been raining and try to snow here for 3 days, and the weather person says 3 more before the sun shines. Oh wait - I seriously looked up while writing this and its no longer TRYING to snow - it's snowing. Ugh! Thanks for sharing - yellow roses are my favorite. They were my wedding flower - with white daisies. Sandi
ReplyDeleteOh for something growing out of control! Seems I lose something each year. This year a hard freeze got the boxwoods. So lush and pretty and yellow! Cheery!
ReplyDeleteThey are just gorgeous Olive! And I love the photo with the beautiful old window!
ReplyDeleteHi Olive! Oh, that is a sweet rose bush and I love yellow roses. A beauty shop next to you house and it's yours? Oh, I'd have a ball with it. You've got to show us inside sometimes. I'm just thrilled you'll be coming to my party! Woo Hoo!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
shelia;)
Oh you make me laugh about the 1950s beauty shop and the storage option. :) Love those flowers! I like how crazy they've gotten.
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous flowers, and how lucky you are to have an old beauty shop next door!
ReplyDeleteOh my Olive, now they are growing out of control, in my mind, they are just gorgeous! How cool to have a shop nearby, a sort of old time story could be written about it, no?
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Nancy
