I know for sure that we are kindred spirits.
You "get" me when my non-blogging friends do not.
You taught me what the word vignette means.
I had been doing them for years just never knew what to call them.
Tablescape is another term I had no familiarity with and still don't.
Your tablescapes are splendid.
I thought cloches were Victorian garden tools.
Turns out they are for vignettes too.
I thought cloches were Victorian garden tools.
Turns out they are for vignettes too.
You take immaculate care of your homes.
And....
And....
You know how to paint, stain, wax, glaze and do innumerable treatments to furniture.
I seldom paint furniture.
I did paint two large pieces of furniture last year (all inspired by you).
You have beautiful gardens.
That one I am working on.
You are wonderful photographers.
I hope to take photographs like you one day.
I know for sure you solve problems.
I ask a question and in a few minutes I receive a response.
You write and bare your souls and hurts and concerns.
I hurt with you and pray with you.
I know for sure that you care for me and lift me up.
I know for sure that blogging is not a singular journey.
Not for me.
I know for sure that blogging has it's levels of competition
but I am not competing with anyone but myself.
You, my blogging buddies are the brightest, and most talented people I have ever known.
That I know that for sure.

Oh, Olive! I wish I could print and frame your post. It says everything I feel from the bottom of my heart! There is no doubt in my mind that Bloggers are there for you whether you realize it or not. Thanks for lifting my spirits this morning!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Oh Jane thanks and I agree.
DeleteYou said exactly what I feel. Blogging is more than just words typed and published. It is sharing and baring of thoughts and hurts and ideas and joys. Blogging is life shared via the computer. Who would have thunk it? Not me when I started this journey, that's for sure. Without blogging I wouldn't have met you! Have a wonderful week dear friend, Patty
ReplyDeleteOh Olive, what a heartfelt post!... I just love every word you wrote, and you are so wise... three years ago, I never even knew what a blog was... it sounded like some strange word I certainly did not understand... over the past three years, I have learned many of the same things you have... and bloggers are the best!... I have also made so many wonderful friends, like YOU!... most of my life, I have been a loner of sorts, so having dear friends to chat with each day is truly a blessing... I also am not competing in any way... I am just me... and that is why I love your blog so... you are always you!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteOf course I consider you my kindred spirit, Olive! One of the wonderful things about blogging is that we can all be so very different in or tastes and abilities, yet still be such good friends! Can't wait for tomorrow's post. ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteAll true, Olive, all true. And the fellowship we share demonstrates that we all feel the same way!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, especially the piney one.
Yep. I'll be on board for tomorrow's post!
Olive, I think you've said everything that I would want to say to you too. Thank you for your special posts.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind words, Olive. Just for the record, I want to take pictures as good as yours! Have a nice blogging week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joanne, it's partly the new big girl camera. If I understood the manual maybe I could take it up a notch.
DeleteThis is a GREAT post. I especially love the comment that other bloggers "get me." BTW, your vignette with the tin baskets is beautiful! You are always an inspiration to me and you are one who consistently makes me smile with your special comments. I am so glad I know you through the world of blogging because you have truly enriched my life!

What a warm hug this post is. But you are a good blog hugger, and everybody knows that. All of these photos are just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love this post. It is so true and exactly what I would have said if I had been so thoughtful. You are the best blogging buddy and truly authentic. I can't wait for tomorrow's installment even though "hardly anyone dies"!
ReplyDeleteDear Olive - what a truly lovely post, until I had my blog I had no idea that it was possible to form such wonderful friendships around the world. In many respects I feel closer to my followers than I do to my real life friends - I would never have believed that♥
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post Olive! I should have had you do a guest post on my give away follower fellowship! Your thoughts are so true... thank you.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Rebecca
I haven't done a lot of the things you mentioned, but bloggers are accepting of various skill sets. Thank goodness.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post Olive! There's no greater friendship than that of a blogger...they are truly amazing.
ReplyDeleteWell said, my friend. I couldn't agree more.
ReplyDeleteThose are such nice words. I feel the same way too. I have only been blogging since last Fall and I already feel a connection to so many. I've learned so much from everyone. It has been so nice finding your blog too. I think of you as a good gardener and a thrifty person who values something with a past. Also, you're one of my Georgia blogging buddies!
ReplyDeleteI love this post and it is so true! Blogger friends are the best!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful and so true. I love it. I have learned so much from fellow bloggers and found them to be the nicest, brightest, most talented and loving people in all the world. They care and that is what matters most. Thanks for a great post and thanks for linking it to TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOlive, Such a wonderful post and beautiful words.
ReplyDeleteYou are a very wise and talented lady. And I agree with every word of your post.
Sandy
Lovin' the framed plate in your vignette Olive-looks great! Bloggy buddies are the best:@)
ReplyDeleteOlive, Since first reading blogs..then getting a site started...I have met beautiful people. It has helped me not be so lonely. Helps when others care if we are happy or sad. I look forward to reading all of the sites I can.:):) smiles to you ,xo, Susie
ReplyDeleteVery well said and so true!!!
ReplyDeleteSo well said! I love my bloggy friends ~ they are such a great gift. Have a great Tuesday
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely sentiments! I am not one of the bloggers with an immaculate house or chalk painted/waxed/ORB'd furnishings, and I wouldn't know a vignette or a tablescape if one bit me in the face! But, I love to write, and I love to take photos with my point and shoot camera and I love connecting with my bloggy friends!
ReplyDeleteWhy that has to be the sweetest of sentiments Olive. I am with ya on the vignettes and tablescapes. Had no clue..but I sure know now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious post! That's why you have so many blogging buddies and yes, I do get you and we share so much in common. I think your photograpy ranks this the highest. I agree, it's not a competition for me, but a way of expression with like-minded souls. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou have expressed in words what I feel about blogging, too. Who knew that I would form so many friendships when I started blogging. And to me, that is what it's all about!
ReplyDeleteSO true, Olive...kindred spirits...your photos are lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove this post....how true...great pics...thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteThat was a really touching post, Olive - thank you. We bloggies really do seem to be 'as one', don't we, and I think we all feel the same. Your photographs are always wonderful my friend, and you know that I have always said so! I, too, had never heard of tablescapes or vignettes before I started blogging. I think this is a wonderful journey that we are on, and we know that we will always have support and encouragement here. Well said my friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post Olive. Thank you so much. Your words always lift me up and I have found so many lovely blogging friends. Including you dear heart! Warm Hugs

Thanks for the uplift - I needed it right now.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post and well written! Blogging has opened up a whole new world for me too. I tell my hubby all the time how amazed I am to meet so many people who are like me. I know you get what I'm talking about. I never dreamed I meet so many friends!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy week!
Blogging has brought joy to my life and the best part is so many friends. I always enjoy visiting with you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post! And so true --- I love the common thread that binds us all so tightly together.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more with you about the blogging world. I have so been enhanced, enlightened, heightened, embraced, encouraged, inspired, prayed for and awed by so many bloggy friends and aquaintances.
ReplyDeleteLove your vignettes by the way, they are very pretty. I did know what a vignette was, but never heard of
tablescaping but have always enjoyed it, but just never got to share it with anyone but my family, so that
has been fun!
Thanks for the sweet post, so glad I came by, and if these are pics of your yard, looks pretty good to me!
Blessings, Nellie
I love this post because I share your philosophy on blogging. Has to be for pure enjoyment or I just cannot continue. Life is too busy to spend so much time doing something that is not enjoyable. I think when you blog just for yourself than all the competition you mentioned goes away for you. That is what I have learned anyway.
ReplyDeletei love this post...well said!

Wonderful words Olive! Great post!
ReplyDeleteOlive,
ReplyDeleteThis post has brought tears to my eyes.
I feel the same way. Such gorgeous thoughts
and sentiments.

Beautifully said, I agree wholeheartedly!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a beautiful writer. I admire how candid you are. I feel the same way about you blogger friends. I have only been doing this for a few months, and sometimes work gets in the way. Still, when I return you are all there waiting for me, still commenting and saying such kind things. Like you said, we lift each other up. And in this world filled with cynics and those with little or no faith, that is so important. Thanks for your honesty.
ReplyDeleteWhen you tell me I am a writer I am humbled and honored. Thank you.
DeleteSuch a caring and thoughtful prose much like poetry. It shows your heartfelt way of life. Very nice to read.
ReplyDeleteOh Shadowman, you know me far too well. Love you bunches.
ReplyDeleteI, too, understand. Sometimes wish I could just go hang out at a fellow bloggers house.
ReplyDeleteTrue words, for sure! Beautiful pictures, too.

Such a wonderful post, Olive! I love that I have found so many others who share my love for "home" and creating a warm and safe harbor for ourselves and our families. It's so nice to know that I am not the only one. And it just so happens that all of you are some of the very nicest people on earth!! ♡♡♡
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautifully written my friend. It's all the things I think but could not express as well. Just perfect! I'm so glad we are friends!
ReplyDeleteOlive. I met you just this morning as I had some wake-up coffee before dressing for church. Have added you to "Google Reader" so as not to miss a post. I have dreamt a little of blogging and do so only "unofficially" on Facebook. It brings me joy. I look forward to getting to know you, and perhaps we can connect on FB if that is a place you wander about as well.
ReplyDeleteJust saw the comment about "unexpected chocolates." My email address... mmmchocolate... This was meant to be. Smile.
