The hearth for Christmas as it stands today.
Poinsettia's were added with a bottle brush wreath
from Big Lots (two years ago).
I placed a green bottle brush tree(from Marshalls)
into some stacked funeral baskets.
My hearth is always filled with funeral baskets.
Freaky yes?
I picked up the enormous empty frame at a garage sale for almost nothing.
I may add bling to the deer head (from Goodwill).
He is under consideration.
My freaky funeral baskets are getting harder and harder to find.
That's a blessing really because I don't need any more.
CC and I have the Christmas tree decorated too.
It was wonderful to have her home for a week.
She drove herself back to her University yesterday without incident.

So pretty Olive!... I especially love your little bottlebrush wreath inside your frame...xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteLove love love!! I see we have the same idea hanging a wreath in an empty frame (great minds)LOL!
ReplyDeleteAs long as I don't think of them as funeral baskets, it's pretty and not freaky! I'd better get on with some decorating, Olive. You're ahead of me!
ReplyDeleteOlive - Love your funeral baskets. I thought I was the only one in the world who collected them!! I don't have many but they are not as easy to find as they use to be.
ReplyDeleteYour hearth looks pretty.
Judy
I'm loving all the mellow white against the natural stone! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteYour hearth looks great with the combination of Christmas and those wonderful metal funeral baskets. Love them!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
so pretty, love the white poinsettias in the olive bucket!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad CC got back safely and that you had such a nice holiday visit with her. I love the look of the hearth and in particular the tree on the funeral baskets. I wouldn't know that's what they were if you hadn't told me. What to see how you adorn Rudolph up top there! Have a nice week, Olive. Ann
ReplyDeleteHi Olive! Oh, your hearth looks great! Love your funky deer head and can't wait to see what you'll do with it. Glad your CC got to come home and help you decorate. I've still got company so I can't do anything yet!
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hi Olive. It must have been lovely to have CC home for Thanksgiving and to help decorate the tree! I'm glad she got back safely. She'll be a seasoned traveller soon. Your hearth looks delightful - quite different. We put up all our Christmas decorations over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteGood Evening Olive, How lovely for you to spend some time with your daughter. I love Christmas decorating with my daughters, but sadly they live too far away to be able to do that. I look forward to the time when we can live closer. I love your wreath, it is so different and the way you have hung it inside an empty picture frame is a fabulous idea. Enjoy your day. Best Wishes Daphne
ReplyDeleteOlive,
ReplyDeletelove the stone on your fireplace! How fun to have CC home for the holiday! You did lovely job decorating the hearth, all the little touches are perfect!

ReplyDeleteI love the beautiful vignettes you've made on your hearth ... so pretty.
ReplyDeleteOlive,
ReplyDeleteI love the way you've gilded everything together - really lovely. I'm going to treat myself to a Poinsettia too. Just the thing to cheer up a grey, wet day.
ReplyDeleteOlive, It is good CC got back to school fine...but you know that means she is growing up.:):) I love the wreath on the frame , the poinsetta and the little tree...it all looks so nice. I am enjoying everyone's decorations. It's like I can have it all. You know how we are, we like our stuff, but we like seeing everybody else's stuff.xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteSo HAPPY to have found you!
ReplyDeleteAll joys,
Sharon Lovejoy WRites from Sunflower House and a Little Green Island
P.S. I fell in love with your "Gold Coast" and islands. What beauty!
I adore that poinsettia in the olive bucket. Did I tell you I bought one? I went to Tuesday Morning (on your advice) and they had NONE. I left my phone number with the confused clerk (she had a hard time understanding why I wanted a rusty, holey bucket) and she called me when some came in a few weeks later. So thanks for that tip! Can't wait to see your tree - I need inspiration with mine!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks beautiful, Olive! I love the bottle brush wreath. I'm looking forward to getting some white poinsettia's myself! Glad CC made it back to school okay.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
So lovely! I really like the bottle brush tree in the funeral basket.
ReplyDeleteOlive, we are so alike. I have that same bottle brush wreath (from Big Lots). Wish I had bought them all. I pulled mine out today and I also bought a big white poinsettia from Lowes too. Mine is still wrapped in its cellophane paper. I am undecided what container it will end up in. Your vignette is just wonderful. ~
ReplyDeleteOlive, your hearth is so beautiful all decorated for Christmas. I'll have to admit that I didn't know what funeral baskets were until I read about them on another blog recently! Love your bottle brush tree and wreath. I saw some vintage ones at the auction today but they didn't come home with me. Just can't buy everything that I want!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty vignette! Rarely see the baskets here and when you do they are pretty pricey. Glad your daughter made it back safely. I always worry when mine are on the road.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and nice comment.
Enjoy your evening.
Olive, I came back to tell you that I've read that book that you have on your sidebar-A Walk in the Woods. It's been a number of years since I read it, but it was thought provoking.
ReplyDeleteThe hearth is so pretty Olive! I love the white poinsettia in the olive bucket and the bottle brush wreath in the frame.
ReplyDeleteIt's all quite lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteI am lovin' your holiday hearth...It looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI don't have, and never HAVE had, a bottle brush. I am going to search for one...they are so cute.
I've got one funeral basket and I can never quite figure out what to do with it. I'm sure you had a wonderful time visiting with your daughter and you're missing her terribly already. Christmas will be here before you know it and you'll have her back again!
ReplyDeleteI love that deer head!!!! Keep it! Your mantle us full of interesting objects and Christmas cheer!!!! The frames are very artistic! I still have not "gotten" the knack of arranging frames, but I really love the way they look!!! Keep the deer!!!! xo
ReplyDeleteYou girls are making me look like a big ol' slug. I've got the boxes out and they sit...taunting me!
ReplyDeleteI think we all hit Big Lots for those wreathes! Your deer is a dear.
XO
Deb
P.S. I'm glad she made it safely back. They'll always be our babies.
Love that bottlebrush wreath! It's so vintage looking. I also like the olive bucket (of course) filled with a poinsettia.
ReplyDeleteAh, so this is the infamous deer head from Goodwill! It looks great on your fireplace!
ReplyDeleteOlive, I didn't realize I wasn't following your blog, but I am now:) Thanks so much for linking up to my party. I adore the bottle brush wreath, I have never seen one before. There are bottle brush trees every where. Very unique, and a keeper. Hope to see you again next week.
ReplyDeleteI have hearth envy Olive......That is one beautiful fireplace! Vanna
