Cottage Kitchen Window

This morning I went to an estate sale at a charming 1940's cottage.
I thought this window was darling.
The red pops so well.

Look at those vintage jars.
I could not take more pictures because the house had about fifty people in it.

There were many bottles for sale.

The cottage was sold but I really wanted the screen door.

I bought a few smalls and two ticking stripe pillows. It was awfully humid.
I had to get out of there.

I am beginning to feel that we live in the jungle with our daily rains.

Happy Friday
Olive

  1. It's a total jungle at our place too this year. I did scramble outside to pull a few weeds that have been impossible to stay ahead of, but now it's clouding up again and an obvious rain storm is in the makings. *sigh*

  13. The screen door would be great as a "screen door" and/or wouldn't it be delightful as a piece of wall art, with the house number. Wow, do I love it!!!

  17. That is a darling looking door! I can see why you wanted it. I know what you mean about the rain making you feel like you live in a jungle. My husband came home today after working outside all day and asked if we now live in the rainforest! It's terrible!

  18. Darling curtains (too bad they weren't for sale!) and I love that screen door. Heat and humidity returning full force here in a few days. I haven't missed it (esp the humidity) these past few days, that's for sure.

  20. You are right about that screen door! Amazing. Did you spot the old pencil sharpener on the shelf with the jars? I love those things and have one that we use.

  21. The screen door?! Heck no, take the door, the frame and the house numbers too!!!! Wonder if the new owners would miss it ;)

And shamefully, I will admit that you have shown me something I have never seen actually put to use or together properly. The oil lantern and holder by the window. Shameful. But now I can actually understand how it was used and what the lantern size was supposed to be.

Do you think I could use the humidity as an excuse for my ignorance. You know brain cells evaporating out or something?!? We've had so much rain, we are setting records here. Sounds like you might be too :( And then there are all those states that are in such dire need of rain ;(

Hoping you have a great weekend! Thanks for showing us the light ;)

That front door is precious. People sure do descend on antique sales,
don't they? Hot or not! :)

  29. Our door is arched like that! We still have the original screen door (1926), it's been in our garage waiting to be restored for the 27 years we have lived here. Maybe this will be the year :) Love your cute photos!
