Bottlebrush Trees & Vintage Trucks

A vintage Tonka truck with one of Donna's bleached bottle brush trees lashed to it just makes me ever so happy.

Donna was shopping with me when I found this chippy white truck.
For a minute I thought we were going to arm wrestle.
I knew I could take her though as she just had some shoulder trouble.

The two pretties together on the coffee table. I hope Gremmie, our cat, does not eat the trees.

Here is the five foot wide star made from barn wood.
It is not perfectly centered but we used the nail the quatrefoil mirror was hung on.

To see how Donna bleaches the trees visit her blog Distressed Donna Down Home here.

I don't bleach trees I simply buy trees from Donna's booth.
Much easier for me.

  1. Love those trucks. I need to get my old fire truck out. It has bottle brush trees on it. I also have a couple of cars. I just bought the cutest convertible baby blue VW beetle that I am going to put a mini tree in. Love them.

  4. I've never been able to deal with "perfectly centered." I would find a way to turn the conversation to asymmetry ASAP and hope I didn't fall on deaf ears.

    The trucks are toot cute.

  5. I love the vintage style trucks with the little trees in them. Very old fashioned! The huge star is a great piece for that wall during the holidays too. Even better that it is made from old wood.

  7. Why get your hands all bleachy, when Donna can do it for you? Of course, I love the trucks. And the star is amazing. Figuring out how I can make my own without taking down a barn.

  8. Let's see, before we went into Uncle Junk's I said I was looking for something white and chippy. Taking advantage of my shoulder problem, you nudged ahead and went to the truck. Make sure to lock your doors, Ms. Olive. The star looks great on the wall. As Joanne above said I never do centered - just askew. The trees are so cute on the trucks.

  18. I bet I could have taken you down for that truck if I'd been there. The trees looks wonderful in it and you'll have to warn the cat away on pain of losing toys!
