I have been battling a crashed computer, a snake, and moving the CC from her apartment which is quite an undertaking (it took 12 hours).
See the snake? He was on the ornamental tree that is in the center of the flower garden on Wednesday morning. I was in my pj's, half asleep, standing on the deck and heard the birds in the tree going kinda crazy. He is, a harmless to humans, approximately 36 inch long rat snake. He eats venomous snakes so he was allowed to stay despite the threat to the birds.
I am happy to be in possession of a brand new sparkly laptop which I must learn to use. Some of my photos are lost in a cloud somewhere over the ocean. I brought that college kid home for a reason. I will be paying y'all a visit. Missed you and big hugs. Need a snake?
joy and peace
Olive
We are seeing rat snakes in our neighborhood this spring. Alarming at first, but once folks realized they were helpful people calmed down. '-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back up and blogging. ~ Sarah
I am scared of snakes! They give me the willies! I don't even know the names of them because I don't want to study them. LOL! Glad you knew it wasn't dangerous though. Glad you got a new computer too. You will have fun playing with it. This weekend is supposed to be rainy, so I'm sure you'll have lots of time to get familiar with it.
ReplyDeletei will allow you to keep that snake. thanks. ha. ha!! sounds like you are a busy bee. i feel that way a lot lately. lots to do. enjoy the new computer. so fun!! ( :
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon Olive, So nice to see you back. It is really frustrating when our computers "play us up".
ReplyDeleteI do not see snakes here where I live, but I used to see them a lot in Cyprus. Like you, we learnt to know the good from the bad, but it still was a bit of an "oh dear" moment when I used to see them amongst the plants, until I realised it was a harmless snake.
Have a lovely weekend playing with your computer.
Best Wishes
Daphne
I'm so glad you understand the snake. :) We don't kill them here because they have a job to do. :)
ReplyDeleteMoving is hard work. Take some time off when you can.
Good snake.... we used to have those back in FL. I don't envy you the move with CC. That is exhausting. Was wondering where you were - hmmmm in the clouds. Ann
ReplyDeleteYou can keep the snake. I do not like them and thankfully don't see them around my place.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your new computer and rest up after moving CC. I'm sure you are so happy to have her home.
Have a great weekend.
Oh a new laptop! Fun but not wanted because of the circumstances!
ReplyDeleteYuck a snake....I would just freak out and never go out.
I have been bad about posting but with my new camera...watch out!
Oh yuck! I just can't stand snakes I don't care how helpful they are! LOL They just freak me out.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your new computer.
Judy
You can keep the snake but I am happy you are ok and back with us. I am sure you'll enjoy that any new lap top!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are back Olive. Computer problems are the worst. I always freak out when I have them and I also freak out when I see slithery things too. Living in the country, on the water, with woods all around, of course we have them. The black ones are okay to have, I just don't like to see them. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Olive, I have missed you!... I was really going to email you today and see if you were ok... I am so happy you are!... and happy you got your new computer... your flowers are so pretty, and yes, I even love your snake!... you know me and all of God's creatures!... welcome back!... now... go get yourself a big cup of coffee and enjoy your day!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteI was glad to hear you let the snake stay. I have had small snakes my sons called gardener snakes that lived in our gardens. Glad to hear you are back online with a new puter and hope you find your cloud photos.
ReplyDeleteFeel free to keep the snake. I'm glad he's serving his purpose, but I'm also just as glad my area is not his home. Birds and squirrels are in my trees! The flowers look great!
ReplyDelete-Karen
no thanks, snakes and spiders are on my total freak-out list! glad you got a new piece of technology, it's the getting there that's the rough part!
ReplyDeleteDear Olive - what a nuisance loosing some of your photos and having a crashed computer - these things are sent to try us, but it sounds as if you are fine now with a brand new laptop to play with.
ReplyDeleteSnakes do tend to freak the female population out, but if it is harmless and eats the rodents then it can't be all bad - it is just something about a snake that makes you feel a little on edge.
Comment re: CC? - do hope that everything is ok.
CC is fine. Moving her out of an on campus apartment is a huge amount of work and a three hundred mile drive round trip. It wears us all out. But we are happy to see her.
DeleteGlad he was a friendly snake, though wouldn't want him curling up by the side of me in the middle of the night. Hope CC's OK and good luck with your new laptop - it doesn't have Windows 8 on it, does it? Bought one for O/H for his birthday and Windows 8 is a pig to use. Much rather my own XP any day.
ReplyDeleteHope your learning curve will be short and sweet.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! I would have died! Enjoy your new laptop. We have kids for a reason!
ReplyDeleteI don't like snakes in trees. Put them on the ground and that's another story. Purrsonally, I purrfur to escort them off the property. Want me to come over and do that fur mew?!? I would mew know!
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Romeo
I am so glad the words are back on your blog on my ipad now. I use it all the time. My husband went down to move my daughter back today from college today. It will be great o have her home for the summer.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back, but you can keep your snake, harmless or not. What is it about snakes that make them creepy? I bet your delighted to have CC home for the summer, I assume.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Yes, we missed you and I KNOW what moving is like for sure!!! My hubby is scared oof snakes: good or bad he wants them GONE! I have to agree. I guess weshould learn some about them though if they can be helpful. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteLove the snake. I would much rather have snakes which stay hidden than feisty rats and mice. I have a family of rat snakes living in the ivy in my side yard and have had to rescue them from the cats. I am sure you are glad to have CC back home - for a little time until she leaves again. Good luck with the new lap top - I hope you start back blogging regularly.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got a new laptop...although it is a challenge to start over on one. And no thanks for the snake....we have our own here in FL! heehee! We saw a black snake this past week. I know they are good snakes but I don't like to see them!
ReplyDeleteOlive,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new laptop! Except for the learning curve for me, it sounds wonderful!
I've been catching up because I have been "away" too. Lots going on. Glad to hear CC is back home for a while!
I'm glad you're OK and that you got a new laptop...but I'll pass on the snake! *shudder*
ReplyDeleteSnakes scare me! My neighbor had a Water Moccasin snake next door which I am frightened bout too! Good luck with your new laptop, did it come with Windows 8? I just got a new one too and need to learn it too! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I would be more afraid of---the snake, or having my computer crash on me :) The photos of your garden blooms are beautiful Olive! Beautiful roses and morning primrose? I love the color combination!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on getting the hang of your new laptop. I have no doubt that you will master it in no time at all.
sending hugs...
Glad you got a new laptop and lucky you to have a snake..not. I don't really mind the non-venomous ones, but they always startle me when I happen upon one. Sometimes the feral cats catch them and leave them lying around with little teeth holes in them. ick!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend getting used to your new laptop.
We don't have too many snakes here so I'm sure I would have fainted if I saw this up close. Glad he's a help though.
ReplyDeleteSo is CC home with you for the summer? I know that would make you so happy!
Have fun with your laptop! I'm sure it won't take you long to get your groove back!
XO,
Jane
Think I will pass on the snake:) These college kids luv to keep us busy.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
So glad you're back..
ReplyDeleteLove, Mona
Don't need a snake. Thanks just the same.:-)
ReplyDeleteYou brought back memories of moving the girls home from school! One was in a dorm and then sorority house and the other in an apartment. Three hour round trips. I would not have the stamina nowadays, that is for sure.
Enjoy your new laptop. I hope you are able to retrieve your photos.
Hey Olive; I have missed you, as I know that everyone else has also!!!
ReplyDeleteFor heaven sakes, I dont need a snake!!! Too many of them are around here as it is. I have been feeding a darling stray cat, who I am calling my snake cat as since I have had her here, I havent seen any snakes!!!
I am glad that you are well. Have a good weekend! :-)
I don't envy you the resident snake or the twelve hour move, but I do envy you the laptop. I would love to be reading up on everyone sitting out in the sun! Welcome back. You are always missed.
ReplyDeleteYou seriously had to post a snake picture? Now that is ALL I'm going to be thinking of tonight while I sleep. Glad CC is back from college for the summer. I'd put her on snake swatting patrol if I were you!
