We are having our backyard neighbors over for supper tonight. Unfortunately they are moving in a few weeks. We are saying goodbye with pineapple chicken, rice and quinoa, tossed salad, rolls, and a fruit salad for dessert,
No better time to use this red transferware I got at a garage sale recently for ten dollars. It has thatched roof English cottages on it.
You guys know by now I only photograph near tablescapes because I cannot keep anything straight on a table. Even my stack of dishes are crooked...I am without hope.
The amaryllis is from this flower garden. The tablecloth is a matelasse bedspread.
I hope all of you are well and nothing exciting happened over the weekend as Joe is taking several days off to help me around the yellow house and I have been painting, trimming hedges, and doing loads of odd jobs that needed tending too with him.

That is such pretty china. If I had a huge house I would collect red transfer-ware, too. I collect the blue and white. Your photos are gorgeous and that meal sounds delish. Your neighbours will love it, for sure. Have fun. Deb

What a lovely garden dinner! It doesn't matter in the slightest if your table isn't perfect or your dishes are crooked - no one is looking for or expecting perfection! Remember, your presence and enjoying yourself with your friends is what's most important. And BTW, those dishes are gorgeous. :-)
ReplyDeleteRed transferware is just the best for setting a happy table.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm gonna have to break down and give quinoa a twirl. Everybody seems to be dining on it and I hate to be left out the loop.
Right now the only excitement around this ol' hill is when I venture out to Luby's to dine with the rest of the infirmed at 3 in the afternoon. I'd much rather be pulled up to your beautiful table.
Deb
Looking so lovely . . . special day with friends . . . and goodbye . . .

You are much farther along in the tablescape process than I am. I did it once and don't think I put my forks on the correct side. Love the red plates. That was one heck of a deal!
ReplyDeleteI always love your tablescapes...they make me want to sit right down and visit! My tablescapes are usually pretty simple...with the grandkids they wouldn't last long anyway...
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful table in a beautiful setting. The red dishes, a terrific bargain, complement the gorgeous red and white striped amaryllis and the red roses in the background!
