Turquoise Spray Paint Transformation

I was armed with a can of spray paint over the weekend. It was a welcome relief from trimming shrubs {forty?}. I painted this candlestick. It was gold. A overly gold gold if you know what I mean. Lacking any patina whatsoever. I thought turquoise might pop on this piece which I paid little for at a garage sale.

I am going to sell it. Eventually.  I placed it down in the den, which I hardly ever show you, and I have taken a fondness for it.

It is the exact fit between the three crosses I thrifted recently. The difficult part of selling is letting go of items you want to keep. The solution to that conundrum is to keep them for a few weeks then sell them.

In further Olive Out news Joe and I accomplished much over five days. The large corbels on the house were painted and gutters repaired. We still have not finished with the shrubbery. Joe accidentally trimmed our Asiatic lilies. Men and power tools are dangerous. Especially when tired. However the flower garden is getting more sun and ventilation. The bunny rabbit has eaten the Black Eyed Susan's. I see the bunny several times during the day. No more snake sightings thankfully. The birdsong is lovely and normal. Life sweet life.

  4. I'm sure it is so much prettier than the gold. Great job! Glad your gardens are coming along even with a husband with a power tool!

    Have a great day!

  5. The turquoise is beautiful on that handsome brown trunk--and the blue in the Frances Mayes book! Something about the whole arrangement looks just right with your cross collection.

I wold have a most difficult time selling treasures I discovered. Will you sometime post a picture of the large corbels? Sounds interesting!

  9. I think the candlestick looks beautiful...I love the bright color. I don't know how you ladies do it...parting with beautiful pieces, especially after you've given them a new life.

Sorry about the bunnies, I think I may have to give up my veggie garden at the lake because of them. What a disappointment to lose those Black Eyes Susans.

    XO,
    Jane

  11. Hi Olive. I love the turquoise colour, and doesn't it look wonderful in between those three crosses. Gosh, you have been busy. We are the same over here. I am holding an Afternoon Tea on Wednesday on behalf of our local Children's Hospice South West, who I volunteer for, and hubby and I have been power washing the patio, painting all the arbours, summer house etc., trimming and cutting back. There's nothing like an event to focus the mind! Take care.

  16. I love that color Olive!!!!and the candlestick! When my daughters and I sold things, that's what I would do too---live with them awhile and then it was easier to let them go. I think my husband is grateful it's not that way with him :)
You guys have been working hard it sounds like and I know what you mean about men and trimmers. Dale is forbidden anywhere near the flower beds :)

Your outdoor table ready for company in your previous post looks beautiful. I hope you had a great dinner with your friends. Your yard is so beautiful and the perfect place to entertain!
    sending hugs....

Never ever turn a man loose with a weed wacker. A lesson I learned the hard way. It's all weeds to them!

  23. One of my favorite colors! I love being able to enjoy for awhile then have someone else enjoy it. Yard work is hard work! I am currently missing ginger lilies (eaten by the dog) and four o'clocks (pulled as weeds by the husband)!
