What is better than an old rusty Tonka dump truck? More rusty trucks? We saw quite a few vintage toys yesterday at the Magnolia Ridge Antique & Art Gathering in Ridge Spring, South Carolina. It was held at a working farm and it was a beautiful site for such a gathering{more on it in another post}.
This truck is in excellent shape. Can you see a wee tree lashed to it at Christmas?
I can.
This chippy pink child's chair was not for sale but was on one of the rear porches of the large farm house.
These are a child's vintage rake and hoe. I had to have them and snapped this image with the price still on them. I was tuckered out. Shopping with my buddy Distressed Donna Down Home is not for wimps. She does not move fast but glides effortlessly to the finish line. Lunch at the famous Juniper's was delicious as always.
I have another friend who has a booth in a antique store that we love there in town. Suddenly Ridge Spring is one of my favorite places to visit.
I will have more on the farm antique sale, beautiful southern house, and outbuildings in upcoming posts.

Looks like so much fun Olive!... I have my old toy Army jeeps from when I was a little girl (my daddy was a Colonel in the Army, and since I didn't have any brothers, I got Army Jeeps, love them!)... your child's garden set is ADORABLE!... where will you be displaying it???... I can't wait to see!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteCute finds and I will need some vintage tools for my some day garden shed.
ReplyDeleteHi Olive! Oh, I love these little toys! I've been on the lookout for a little truck to play with! :) Thanks for popping in to see me.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
That green and orange truck is amazing! I saw all sorts of vintage garden tools today at the fair I went to, but they all were way to expensive for me. It's almost like they all knew that they would look fabulous on my front porch or something.
ReplyDeleteFun trucks that you found!! Adorable little chair and it looks like it's in great shape.
ReplyDeleteGreat old trucks. The yellow one is just like one my brother and I played with in the sandbox as children.
ReplyDeleteIf I had the sunshine required in my kitchen, I would use one of those trucks to plant some fresh herbs in! How cute would that be!
ReplyDeleteI love the old Tonka trucks, too. Of course considering I have 4 sons all in their 40s, I remember buying them new! haha! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteCute vintage toys! Love that pink chair too!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a wonderful event. Your images are beautiful. I love all the vintage things. They even bring back a memory or two.
ReplyDeleteIt was entirely a wonderful experience, Olive. I am still recovering, but did unpack my treasures. Love the garden tools on your green metal chair!
ReplyDeleteLove the truck! It's been on my junkin wish list for awhile now! That pink chair is too cute! I may have had to buy those small garden tools also!!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Girl, if you want to know tired....go shopping with Marty....she is the Energizer bunny.
ReplyDeleteWonderful treasures, Olive. Sounds like a terrific day all around.
ReplyDeleteThe rake and hoe are darling. I also love that pink chair - too bad it wasn't for sale...
ReplyDeleteOlive, I love the trucks:) They are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a wonderful sale! I love all old toys and children's furniture, so I would have had a hard time deciding what to buy. The pink chair is adorable!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh . . . Tonka Trucks bring back memories of my now 49 year old. He loved his Tonka stff . . . wsh I still had some.
ReplyDeleteCute trucks...would look cute in a garden setting with flowers in the back. Can't wait to see what you do with the rake and hoe.
ReplyDeleteYummy photos!!!!!

South Florida needs to get itself a Magnolia Ridge Gathering. I think we are unfairly missing such a wonderful place. Love those trucks. Too cool!

In one of your previous posts you mentioned the town of Ridge Spring and I checked it out online. My husband and I are thinking of going to their yard sale June 1. Have you ever been to that? If so, any words of wisdom to share?
ReplyDeleteThanks ever so much. I really enjoy reading your posts.
Blessings,
Margaret
I have never been to the Highway 23 yard sale but have two good friends who go every year. I am planning on going with Donna who I mentioned in this post. She recommends starting in Ridge Spring and then going to Ward, Johnson, and ending in Edgefield. I love love Ridge Spring. Be sure to eat at Juniper's if you have time. They have supper there too. Thank you Margaret for reading Olive Out.
DeleteThe Peachtree 23 yard sale is huge so plan to do a bit or walking. Wear comfortable shoes! Lots of booths sell bottled water along the way. Lunch at Juniper is highly recommended and their supper menu is awesome! While you're visiting our town, please take the short walk to Pat's Antiques. It's very easy to find! If you are looking out the front door of Juniper, walk straight ahead, over the railroad tracks, past the fire department and Ms. Harriet's Garden store (stop in and say hello to Ms. Harriet! She's a treasure!) and Pat's Antiques will be the large white house in front of you. There are signs in the yard. This street is lined with beautiful old homes to look at! I'm Ms. Pat's neighbor (to the right, if you are looking at her house) so wave if you see us! HAHA! Ridge Spring is a lovely town full of wonderful friendly people. Enjoy your visit! Ms. Olive, I realized while looking at Ms. Donna's blog that my husband and I had walked out of the antique store behind you on Saturday. I wish I had said hello!
ReplyDeleteLoving your post of the toys as well as the house and barn tour on the other blog..
ReplyDeleteSweet vintage finds! So great to have blogging friends to go antiquing with! Thanks so much for sharing at Amaze Me Monday Olive. I so appreciate your being a regular,it's always fun to see what you've been up to!!
