Arches

It is Vintage Inspiration Friday at Common Ground.

Please visit Debra and the others for vintage goodness.

Buildings and architecture are a favorite of mine to photograph.

Arches are an important part of design.

These arches are antique in fact.

This is Fort Pickens in Pensacola, Florida.

2010 winterspring 081 Look at the patina on the brick. The repeating arches are inspiring to me and often seen in modern design.

  9. I adore photographing architecture and old buildings too... I love these arches and the old bricks. Such character and craftsmanship in the old construction, difficult to replicate today as most of the techniques have become dying Arts. *le sigh*

  13. You know, I think one of the reasons people love arches is that they are so much more inviting than squares. Do you see squares in nature when you walk up to a cave or through a grove of trees? No but you see circles and arches.

    Just a thought.

    BTW lovely shots.

  14. That is such a great shot. Arch after arch just going on and on. Love the white stuff on the bricks. Not sure if it's paint, lime or salt, but it's very pretty.
