I placed some herbs into some available pots on the deck.
Sweet Basil in the terracotta pot in the foreground and Rosemary and English Lavender in the purple pots (plastic but oh well they are purple). We will cook with these when they mature. I grew enormous amounts of Sweet Basil last year in that same pot and gave bunches of it away. You can see we are inundated with pollen.
We have three pink azaleas next to the back of the house that bloom three times a year. I forget the name of them but they are kind of crazy in the way they bloom. I am told they are expensive.
If only that rooster would pluck that weed.
My toad is overlooking the Lithodora. I have four more Lithodora's to plant this morning and grass to cut. I am waiting for the sun to warm up a bit.
I am like Goldilocks. I want the temp just right.
Tell me what you are doing today?
joy and peace
Olive
Hi Olive, love all your little pots... herbs are my favorite and I adore Basil and use alot of that too... I need the temps to be "just right" too... hope you have a beautiful Spring day... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteYou have just inspired me to plant some herbs....it all looks beautiful! Enjoy your day my friend, Gail
ReplyDeleteI am painting in my studio and taking breaks to catch up on the blogs I love to follow. :)
ReplyDeleteI am an avid gardener as well, but in the process of moving. Can't wait to get settled in at the new home, so I can get my hands back in the soil..
Your garden looks great already! I like the idea of flower pots on inverted ones. I believe I will steal your idea! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteNice herbs, Olive. I want stable weather. We had a string of 80's, and today, 30's.
ReplyDeleteYour plants are looking good. I think I need to plant some herbs this year.
ReplyDeleteI also like the rooster and frog.
wow Olive you are way ahead of me!! but I am inspired by all your pictures...Today I am happily puttering in my greenhouse..getting pots filled with dirt so I can plant some seeds as soon as I finish eating lunch...hope your sun came out and warmed it up for you...I am like you I like the temperature outside to be 'just right' as always, I enjoyed your post..
ReplyDeleteHappy gardening..Mona
I love azaleas and have never had success. Yours are lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking lovely Olive.....you are way ahead of us with your plants. Things are only just emerging here !!
ReplyDeleteThe weather here is glorious....so glorious that we haven't had any rain and on April 1st, a hosepipe ban comes into operation !! We are all doing rain dances over here !!
I'm afraid that, today, I had to take my car to the garage for an MOT. I don't know if you have them over there but, by law we have to have our cars checked every year to make sure they are roadworthy.MOT stands for Ministry of Transport. I had to sit and read my book for an hour while they did it. Not the best way to spend an hour on a warm, sunny day but a job that had to be done. Perhaps I'll venture out in the garden tomorrow. XXXX
Lovely Olive - glad to see you have a plant of Rosemary there too.
ReplyDeleteLovely and inspiring, as always! I have been away from my favorite blogs for a while and am happy to visit you again!
ReplyDeleteYour herbs look brilliant Olive. I think a lot of us are enjoying the gorgeous weather and out in the garden. I'm still weeding at my plots but they are starting to shape into something recognisable at last.
ReplyDeleteIf that rooster will pluck your weeds, please send him over to my house when he's done:@)
ReplyDeleteHi Olive, You are really going to town with your plantings. Love all your gardening pics! I've put some pansies in a couple of pots, but that's about it until it stays a bit warmer here.

Beautiful! Occasionally I'll get the urge to have an herb garden, but since I'm not the one tending to it, I keep quiet. We did grow some oregano... I think it was... one year. Had spaghetti a lot that summer.
ReplyDeleteAnd your comment on my blog about not owning anything burlap? Me either. LOL Except for those bags now. About 25 years ago, or more, when I was big into primitives, I had a pillow I'd made out of burlap and painted a cotton boll on it. I have no idea what ever happened to that pillow.
Love all of your pretty plants and flowers. I think those azealas are called Encore azealas. They bloom several times a year. They're beautiful! We had some in the back yard, but my dog hiked his leg on them a few too many times, so now they are just stick bushes. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to plant some herbs again this year. I had good luck with rosemary and basil. Love your sweet garden accessories, especially that little toadie! I need to add some color to all that green in my backyard. Any suggestions- you saw the yard..... ~ Sue
ReplyDeleteOlive, I can't live without rosemary and basil either! I use both of them so much in cooking. You really have been working a lot in your yard and it shows.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are already blooming. I only have some daffodils that have bloomed at my home. I am looking forward to planting some potted herbs and geraniums. The joys of spring and summer.
ReplyDeleteblessings,
Danielle
Oh Olive how pretty it looks! Too early for that here but my lilacs are blooming!!! So early here, tulips do not bloom at the same time lilacs do! I am not complaining but it is crazy... :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings today
Rebecca
Hi Olive, all your container gardening just delightful. It would truly make me smile!
ReplyDeleteBarb
Your rosemary & basil are coming right up.
ReplyDeleteI am planting mine in an open flower bed on my patio this year
it all looks good grouped together, I always emjoy being in the yard and garden
I envy your azaleas. I can't keep those things alive. Maybe I will give it another try this year. Tenth time's the charm, right.
