One YEAR Of Puppy Love

One year ago today we brought home this roly poly part German Shepherd puppy who could not stay awake for nothing.  We love him with a shattering kind of love. He is spoiled and we do not care. Our houses will not be fully clean again and we do not mind that either.

Here he is today, with Joe, in the same swing. He was trying to play with me and the camera instead of sitting and posing. He weights about eighty pounds and that is about where he is going to level off we think (hope). He does climb into our laps frequently. He learned that from Clovis. He loves to ride in the truck and detests being left behind. He is a sight riding beside me in the Mini Cooper. CC always asks what her Shelley Boo is doing when she calls. She thinks he is the best thing going since Starbucks opened.

In other totally unrelated news I fell on the deck today while staining a frame. Shelley and Joe did come to my rescue. I am fine but sore all over and going to bed shortly. Needless to say I lack coordination because I cannot stain a frame and stand upright at the same time. We did go to a lovely country wedding (will post log cabin pics Monday) last evening but no spirits were involved. I wanted to get this post up in honor of our boy.

big puppy hugs

  1. Oh Olive - am so sorry you fell! Glad nothing got broke!! (Did the frame survive?) LOL

Your dog is just darling. You know, we think the same thing. Bella loves turkey breast at most of her meals and John just says - if that's what she wants, that's what she gets! A dog's loyalty and love cannot be beat. They are such precious companions.

    Hope you're feeling better soon.

  2. Ouch! Poor Olive. Hope you are on the mend soon.

I love dogs that look like dogs. Not all fluffed up and sissy looking. Now Shelley is a GREAT looking dog! Happy birthday to him!

  8. I hope you feel better tomorrow, I'm not so steady on my feet these days either. I was painting too, crouched on the floor and I didn't think I could get up! lol! Take care of yourself.

Shelley sure has grown and is as beautiful as ever. My daughter is in an online German Shepherd club, she adores them!

  10. Oh I love the pictures of Joe and Shelley! So sweet. The first dog I remember from my childhood was our German Shepherd named Rebel. We loved that dog and he was so smart!

Girl you can't be falling down. It's embarrassing and it hurts. Hope you feel so much better tomorrow.

  11. So sorry, girl. I love the puppy. Your sweet man shows his adoration for both of you. Now, that swing, I'm crazy about. Does it hang from a tree? I can't tell in the photo.

  18. What a wonderful, beautiful pup you have - it's amazing how much love and joy they bring to your lives.....I love what you wrote about him being spoiled, and the house not being perfect, and you not caring ! Good for you - that is how it should be. Who else would give you that kind of unconditional love forever - love him and spoil him as much as you can !!

  19. I know all too well about having a spoiled dog! That's the way it should be though. Your doggie is so handsome too. I'm sure he's happy that he got y'all for owners. So sorry to hear about your accident. Hopefully, you didn't damage anything that will require a trip to a doctor.

  20. Olive, I’m so glad you weren’t hurt seriously when you fell. I hope the aches and soreness are better tomorrow. What a beautiful boy you have. I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for German Shepherds. My dad gave me a pup when I was very young and we had one when our son was young. Something special about them. Thanks for sharing these great photos.

  24. Hey Olive; I hope and pray that you are doing well. Try and be Careful!!
Your Boy is a Beauty!!! For what it is worth, I believe that animals should be spoiled, as they bring so much Joy to our lives in so many ways. Every pet that I have ever had has been spoiled rotten!!!
Great pictures. Joe is a handsome fellow. Take Care :-)

  25. Shelley was such a dear little puppy and has grown into a fine handsome dog.
Do be careful Olive - balance problems are one of the things that happen as we get older.
Do you remember when you could run down some steep steps without holding on? that ability goes and sadly gets worse.
Now I have been watching the Masters, I realise what a lovely climate you live in.

  33. Has it really been a year since Shelley moved in and took over the house? I remember how unimpressed Clovis was with the new baby. It looks like it was a perfect match and he's one lucky dog to be with people who love him so much. Hope you recover quickly from the fall!
