How are y'all doing this Friday? I am super tired but pressing on anyway. Donna and I found this rusty scalloped motel chair last Saturday at an estate sale. The rusty chair is a little wobbly therefore I am using it as a plant stand.
I went quickly to two estate sales this morning, then made chicken salad, broccoli salad, and did some gardening. I still have too much to do before Joe arrives but am taking some time to blog. I did not have time to help Fancy clean her house when the golfers left today(seven leave and seven check in-that's crazy). I enjoyed all your comments on the last post I wrote about Fancy renting her house.
Happy Friday
Olive
Hi Olive... love your chair!... we had two of those when I was growing up, infact, my daddy still used them on his patio until he passed away several years ago... his house is still in our family, and so are his chairs... love seeing your special finds!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteI adore this chair! They are all over Door County (WI) in the summer. Lunch sounds delicious!!!
ReplyDeleteI am loving the way the chair looks with the clay pot. That green is very becoming with the bits of turquoise peeking through.
ReplyDeleteCharming chair! I missed three of them at an estate sale yesterday:( Good thing is...a friend of mine got them:)Heads up...you made the top five at NTT this week:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
I have a thing for rusty motel chairs and that one is pretty darn special. I went to one church sale today. Nothing spectacular, but I got a few small things.

Pretty addition to the garden, Olive!...Christine
ReplyDeletePerfect idea for your plants! Love the rusty, chippy look.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I've got to keep watch for estate sales as they begin this spring. I actually have two chairs just like yours, except they're black. I've been meaning to do something with them, like refinish them, but now I'm not so sure. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe chair looks so pretty on the deck,Olive! We had two of them when I was growing up. My daughter has them at her cabin now.
ReplyDeleteI love those old chairs! G-Mom-B had 4 in her yard and we'd sit in them after dinner:@)
ReplyDeleteLove those old yard chairs! I have a couple I need to redo and repaint. I was warned that they are dangerous because they will tip over backwards real easy. So, I have never used them, but I will not and put plants on them. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteJudy
what is it about those chairs? The rustier the better!
ReplyDeleteOlive, I love the wonky motel chair. Think of all the people who have sat on it. My parents had some old chairs like that. I still love them. Hope you and Joe are doing well. Enjoy your nice weather.xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteLove the chair/plant stand! I'm a nut for yellow so of course I love the old color with the rust. Please save some broccoli salad for me or at least publish the recipe! Or have you already? Ann
ReplyDeleteLove the chair! Those are very expensive in our area if you can find them at all...I need to get out and go to more estate and yard sales...I haven't been to many this Spring. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy aunt and uncle had clamshell chairs like those on their front porch. I last remember seeing them in the seventies. My brother recently wondered what had become of them; he wouldn't mind having them. I am sure they are less than rust now.
ReplyDeleteOlive I love your new chair, it is the perfect yellow. Great new find:)
ReplyDeleteOhhh fun!! Sand off that chair and make it a different color on each part of it or put a fern on it!! Great find!
ReplyDeleteHi Olive! You've been having fun! Love your cute little chair and yellow is always happy.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Love your great chair! Wonderful find.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend.
Beautiful chair with tons and tons of character...don't drive yourself into the ground...
ReplyDeleteOh Olive I adore chairs like this...I would love to have 2 on my front porch painted yellow. I will have to be on the look out now because you have inspired me. Wish I could stop by for some broccoli salad. Love it. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat find you have there . . . great for sitting but I like it as a plant stand too!
ReplyDeleteThat chair is PERFECTION!!!! I love it Olive!
ReplyDeleteHey Olive; What a Gorgous Antique Chair!!! I have been hunting for some Chairs like that one for so long, and with no luck either!! I Love what you have done with the Chair, as it looks just Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you have a Lovely Weekend. Take Care :-)
Hello Olive, I love your chair . . . what a special find :) Thrifting is so much fun! I love finding great vintage accents for my home.
ReplyDeleteWe have some mutual followers so I think that we were destined to cross paths at some point. I love aprons, old vintage mixing bowls are one of my true weaknesses. I'm always coming home with a "new to me" one that I find at a yard sale or thrift store. My sweet husband laughs and says, "Oh, that's what we have been needing, another mixing bowl", LOL
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you over to follow me back. I have met the nicest people in blog-land :)
Your newest blogging sister, Connie :)
Gorgeous chair, Olive. I love the last small photo. That should be in a magazine. Just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting here admiring your chair that I saw on Instagram. I've always wanted a set for my home. At the auction a few weeks ago, I missed out on a blue pair. My fault, since I didn't see the preview from the start and I didn't know their condition. Hate that to begin with. Your blog looks fantastic as always. I need to stop by more often.. really I do ;) I tell you.. I can't wait for retirement, lol.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend,
xxx Liz
The chair is a lovely colour. When you sanded it, how much rust would you have removed and what did you wax the chair with?
ReplyDeleteI read all of your blogs and enjoy them, except for one about a fur-love.

Love your chair, great find. Such a unique plant stand and place for birds to perch in the garden! I agree, the rustier the better! Hope you'll share at AMAZE ME MONDAY, link goes up Sunday evening...

Your chair must be a long lost cousin of my chippy chairs. Love the yellow color.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the chair Olive ..... even before you sanded it !!
ReplyDeleteWe are having rain, rain, rain ...... I think that the world's weather has gone mad !! XXXX

I LOVE the charm of the old motel chairs and yours has a wonderful color! Sand and wax...wow, I'm impressed. I guess that's why the raindrops beaded so beautifully on the photo you captured after the storm.
