Rusty Motel Chair

How are y'all doing this Friday? I am super tired but pressing on anyway.  Donna and I found this rusty scalloped motel chair last Saturday at an estate sale. The rusty chair is a little wobbly therefore I am using it as a plant stand.

We had a thunderstorm last night, which I slept through, and that is why the pine trees have rained down upon the deck. I have sanded the chair and waxed it.

I went quickly to two estate sales this morning, then made chicken salad, broccoli salad, and did some gardening. I still have too much to do before Joe arrives but am taking some time to blog. I did not have time to help Fancy clean her house when the golfers left today(seven leave and seven check in-that's crazy). I enjoyed all your comments on the last post I wrote about Fancy renting her house.

Happy Friday
Olive

  10. Lovely! I've got to keep watch for estate sales as they begin this spring. I actually have two chairs just like yours, except they're black. I've been meaning to do something with them, like refinish them, but now I'm not so sure. :-)

  13. Love those old yard chairs! I have a couple I need to redo and repaint. I was warned that they are dangerous because they will tip over backwards real easy. So, I have never used them, but I will not and put plants on them. Thanks.

  18. My aunt and uncle had clamshell chairs like those on their front porch. I last remember seeing them in the seventies. My brother recently wondered what had become of them; he wouldn't mind having them. I am sure they are less than rust now.

  28. Hello Olive, I love your chair . . . what a special find :) Thrifting is so much fun! I love finding great vintage accents for my home.
We have some mutual followers so I think that we were destined to cross paths at some point. I love aprons, old vintage mixing bowls are one of my true weaknesses. I'm always coming home with a "new to me" one that I find at a yard sale or thrift store. My sweet husband laughs and says, "Oh, that's what we have been needing, another mixing bowl", LOL
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you over to follow me back. I have met the nicest people in blog-land :)

  30. I'm sitting here admiring your chair that I saw on Instagram. I've always wanted a set for my home. At the auction a few weeks ago, I missed out on a blue pair. My fault, since I didn't see the preview from the start and I didn't know their condition. Hate that to begin with. Your blog looks fantastic as always. I need to stop by more often.. really I do ;) I tell you.. I can't wait for retirement, lol.
    Have a wonderful weekend,
    xxx Liz

  31. The chair is a lovely colour. When you sanded it, how much rust would you have removed and what did you wax the chair with?
I read all of your blogs and enjoy them, except for one about a fur-love.

  36. I LOVE the charm of the old motel chairs and yours has a wonderful color! Sand and wax...wow, I'm impressed. I guess that's why the raindrops beaded so beautifully on the photo you captured after the storm.
