Vintage handkerchiefs
obtained at an estate sale, on Saturday, from the nicest family.
They also gave me free plants.
Notice the delicate cut work on this hankie.
The purple and green on this one is a charming combination.
The cream colored urn came from the same sale.
I am keeping it.
Yay

Those are so pretty Olive, I really love vintage linens. Nice you got free plants too.
ReplyDeleteI left a bunch of hankies back in Texas with a consignment shop before I moved. Now kinda wishing I hadn't...

I have a soft spot for hankies like this. They're so pretty! I'm now following your blog!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hankies, Olive! I love the bowl on pedestal too...Christine
ReplyDeleteOh lucky you! I love vintage hankies! Such charming details! What about the free plants? What'd ya get? Enquiring minds and all *winks* I also think the pedestal bowl is going to be perfect for so many vignetting opportunities with it's sculptural shape. You done good! Vanna
ReplyDeleteP.S. Why are you allergic to etsy? I wanna know....Anything I should look out for?
They gave me free ghost plants ( a succulent). I think etsy is wonderful and I could spend tons of money there-that's what I am scared of.
DeleteI love the beauty of a vintage hankie. I have some from both Grandmothers...still think if I hold them to my face I can still smell there perfume.
ReplyDeleteDon't you LOVE old hankies! Especially with monograms. They are utterly nostalgic. You got some pretty ones!
ReplyDeleteMy mother always carried a hankie in her purse ~ not uncommon for that generation. She had a beautiful hand painted hanky box she kept them in. Thanks for the memory (:
ReplyDeleteOld hank8es r terrific! So many possibilities . Ann

The embroidery and cutout work on vintage hankies is lovely - I think they were just for show.
ReplyDeleteLoving the color combos! Love all of them, but the monogrammed one...that one is nothing to sneeze at! Real hankies are just so much nicer than a kleenex.

Olive,
ReplyDeleteSomewhere I have a couple of my grandmother's. I shall have to go on a hunt. I can picture a little vignette of some of her hankies, gloves and costume jewelry. I like the urn too.
Carol
I love vintage hankies! I carry one with me everyday. You have some real beauties!
ReplyDeleteHankies remind me of a
ReplyDeletegentler, more refined era.
Sweet finds!

Hi Olive,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Treasures, Love that off white urn & the hankies are so sweet, the purple & green one reminds me of when my middle daughter was young, she love p&g together & each time she would see the color combination, she would say, "What a Moment!" Love It
Have a Blessed & Beautiful week

Well, now. Aren't those a step up from a paper tissue. They're beautiful, Olive.
ReplyDeleteHi Olive! Oh, what pretty hankies! Don't you wish they could tell you their story!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
They're lovely. Boxes of delicate lace handkerchiefs were always favourite Christmas presents in my early teens.
ReplyDeleteYour hankies are so pretty, nice to decorate with and to display, but I'm so glad we don't use them anymore.
ReplyDeleteWhen I just got married my husband still used them, one by one they ended up in the bin.
Thank goodness for kleenex!
Hugs,
Angela.
Such pretty hankies. Love vintage linens.
