I was not enthusiastic about going thrift shopping this morning.
Five thirty AM when the temperature is in the mid thirties is not good for me.
I warmed up to it when Joe and I found the mirror and grate.
The grate may help me achieve my secret goal of becoming
the crazy lady with too many yard ornaments.
I always pick up big empty frames for a song.
This Limoges tureen is from Thursdays estate sale.
It has a crack so was cheaply priced.
I see green ornaments in it for Christmas.
I had never seen one of these before.
The paper in her skirt explains that each hole is for a cloth napkin.
I will not be doing that.
A Thomasville solid wood etarge.
We may sell it. Or not.
It is heavy and in great shape.
What have you found thrifting lately that makes you smile?
happy hunting
Olive

That was early and cold!
ReplyDeleteWell, I love your etagere...and since it is skinny you should be able to work it in a tight spot somewhere!
I would grab that grate in a heartbeat! I am turning into one of those crazy lawn art ladies too :) Love that frame. Wish you lived nearby to help me find one because I am currently on the hunt. Have a great weekend!!

Susan and Bentley
Hi Olive... beautiful finds!... my favorite is that exquisite tureen!... thanks so much for visiting my winter wonderland today... tell CC she can have ALL the snow she wants... FREE!!!!!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Etagere Olive! Of course I love the covered bowl also. I can never pass up those pretty bowls, cracks, chips and all! Great hunting.
ReplyDeleteThis is inspiring me to get to the thrift stores, estate sales, and garage sales! I get up early, so I might as well. Love the finds!
ReplyDeleteFun finds! I love the napkin lady, that's a cool idea:@)
ReplyDeleteOh, but the crazy ladies with too many lawn ornaments are always loved! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat finds, love the soup tureen! Had to go lawn and leaf bags, in the 70's here today. So on the way home stopped at the new antique store and picked up a christmas gift, great crystal apertif glasses, 4 for $10.
You did good this morning Olive! I love thrifty finds!! Hope you're having a wonderful day, Gail
ReplyDeleteYes. $750.
ReplyDeleteThe little girl looks like a Santos.
It was well worth it to get out of bed this morning! I am in love with the mirror and grate...they actually look pretty neat together like in your picture. And much too pretty for yard ornaments...get some pink flamingos!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
You do find great items, Olive. I love the grate. I have seen napkin ladies but most were kitschy not neutral like yours.
ReplyDeleteGreat grate! I have never heard of a napkin lady before. Where have I been? You are a much better estate sale person than I. Those early morning hours kill me.
ReplyDeleteDear Olive - I guess you must be feeling back on top form again arising so early.
ReplyDeleteThe étagère is lovely, and would be so useful in many different locations within the home.
That soup turene is wonderful.....and I'm jealous of the etarge. I'd paint that turquoise so fast. I myself would love some big vintage frames. I guess it does pay off to get up super early.
ReplyDeleteLove the napkin doll. It reminds me of the first time I encountered a toast holder and asked if it was to hold outgoing letters.
ReplyDeleteYou two are the most disciplined thrifters always getting out there. I love the Limoge tureen. Have a few myself.
ReplyDeleteI bought a cute birdhouse this morning at a yard sale and when I took it out of the car the bottom fell off. Sheesh - what you get for a dollar these days (: You did much better than me (but then you always do)(: xo
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful finds!I love the etarge too...and I would be paint it as well...the grate is a awesome find too...we got one here and mounted in a space above the front door...heave a great day!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been up that early and out the door for a sale since last winter. It's only fun if you find some treasures and you sure did! The tureen is beautiful. Can't wait to see it filled with ornaments!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds!! I love estate sales but don't find them often.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds, Olive. I love the grate and the tureen. There haven't been any estates sales around here and I haven't found anything in the thrift stores lately.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Olive! I love that grate and look forward to your post about you being the crazy lawn ornament lady... I have been hitting some estate sales here in CA. I have made some fun finds which I will be posting about this week, but today I got my nerve up and went to one in Beverly Hills! Too pricey for me, but beautiful stuff and stuffy estate people - fun to see the inside of the houses (nope, mansions) nevertheless. A strange experience...Ann
ReplyDeleteOlive~ Big chuckle from me this morning at your "I will not be doing that" :) I adore your iron piece and your tureen with green ornaments would be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe tureen with green ornaments is going to be really pretty..
ReplyDeleteGreat finds.
hugs, Cherry
Oh, pretty finds!! You did great!!

Good Evening Olive, My word thrifting at 5.30 am...it's pitch black here at that time in the morning. What's the saying "the early bird catches the worm" and you certainly did that. The little china lady is lovely she looked very serene and I loved your wooden entarge. It would sit very nicely in my home. I have enjoyed reading your blog so have become a new follower. Sending you best wishes from England. Daphne
ReplyDeleteHi crazy lady with the lawn ornaments...you make me laugh, I needed that. Ted Bear and I went to the church bazaar yesterday and I did buy some things.I'll be showing them this week on my blog...if I don't take a hammer to this computer first. Know what I mean. I love that grate. I love old frames also. The oval one on your new header is wonderful. xo, Smiles, Susie
ReplyDeleteOlive,
ReplyDeleteWow...for the etagere! And the frame, and gate!
Great finds there Olive! I haven't been thrifting lately but I love your little napkin girl and that shelf...love your shelf!!!
ReplyDeleteCindy
That etagierre would paint up beautifully! Nice finds! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteYou find the most amazing things. I have been to 2 shops here and nothing... Guess I live in the wrong area.
ReplyDeleteYou found some great things! I love the tureen and green ornaments will be perfect in it. I really like the shelves and the napkin girl is darling. I've not found many things worth talking about in a good long while. 'Course it would have helped if I'd actually been out looking. LOL
