Wax ornaments made from German molds are incredibly durable.
Beautiful too.
They feel like an expensive candle.
I have had mine for over twenty five years.
I bought them from a German couple who used antique molds.
They had the most charming shop in Highlands, North Carolina.
The shop is long since closed but you can search for
wax ornaments on Etsy and easily find some wonderful ones.
I have larger pieces I bought from that couple at our old house.
I loved them then and I love them now.

I am off to trim shrubs because my darling Joe
should not be doing that alone.
I will be back to visit with all of you tonight.

ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful, Olive. I remember some wax ornaments on our family tree - they had been passed down through the family from the German side of Dad's family. Those are real treasures.

I used to encounter a couple who cast wax ornaments while at shows. I don't rembember where they were from. I never bought or traded for any, and now I regret it. Thanks for showing yours.

ReplyDeleteThose are very pretty! I don't think I've ever seen a wax ornament before. Hope you enjoyed trimming the bushes. It's too cold here to do much of anything right now, so I'm staying in and trying to clean the house and decorate a little.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, your ornaments are so lovely. I bought some about 30 or 35 years ago and they are my favorite ornaments - I think possibly because my mother had a wax set when I was little. Mine are all round with angels, etc on them.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your treasures!
Happy holiday weekend!

ReplyDeleteOlive,
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely collection of was ornaments!! We lived in Heidelberg, Germany in the 80s and brought back a Nurenburg Angel that has a wax face and hands with red velvet dress. Love all of their decorations - the smokers, nutcrackers, wooden ornaments, sooo many lovely Christmas decorations!! Thanks so much for visiting and reminding me of Germany's wax ornaments.
They are sooo nice!!!!
