A vintage Santa with new stag mugs.
The patina of the Santa mug is hard for me to resist.
I like that crazing.
I like that crazing.
Notice how small he is compared to the stag mugs.
This Santa is winking at us.
I have been slowing pulling Christmas dishes out of the cabinets.
Nothing is finished but I shall give you a sneak peak of the buffet.
It's too linear.
I need to shake it up.
I am searching for a china cabinet or Welch cupboard for this space.
I would like to display my china in it the way many of you do.

joy and peace

Love the Santa mugs. I have been in search of a step-back cupboard for days now. It's fun but I'm slowing down. Must make a decision now. They are great for displaying china and lots of cupboard space. Check them out, it might be what you are looking for. Deb
ReplyDeleteLike Deb, I love the Santa mugs! They look quite vintage. Don't tell me you bought them for a song, like you usually do. We never seem to have bargains like that over here in England!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Good luck on your search for the cabinet. By the way, I had one of those Santa mugs. Hmmmmmmm. I wonder where he is.
ReplyDeleteSanta's winking 'cause of the eggnog he'll soon be toting! One of the best things about this time of year is the joy in the little things.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your huntboard hunting!
Deb
Hi Olive... love your beautiful new stag mugs... my size of a coffee cup!... and I also love the vintage Santas... I have a few even smaller that were used way back when as nut cups... your displays are always pretty!... I had Jack take the doors off of my corner hutch in my kitchen so now I have open shelves and it's like having a whole new display area!... hope you and CC are having fun together!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeletemy mom has a similar santa mug ... i love him to death. i believe he has a few chips. what we would leave santa with a mug full of milk & cookies ... those were the days. oh, to be a kid again. wish you well on your decorating the homestead. i'm almost finished. a bit more to to. i love decorating before thanksgiving to enjoy it all a bit longer ... get in the mood.
ReplyDeletedo you shop on black friday. not me .. i've always wanted to ...but i think i would rather be safe & sound ... relaxing instead of pulling my hair out with all the crazy folks. ha. ha!! take care this Thanksgiving week. ( :
I have never shopped on Black Friday. My sister does but not me.
DeleteMy mother has these Santa mugs and they always make hot chocolate taste better!
ReplyDeleteha! MY mom has those santa mugs, too, and i especially love the
ReplyDeletewinking santa!
I love those little mugs I think I have one. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThose Santa mugs look so familiar...we must have had them when I was a little girl. Love the stag mugs, too. I hope you find a cabinet you like, I looked high and low for the perfect Hoosier cabinet and I am in love with the one we found.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Hi Olive! Your Santa mug made me smile when I saw him. He's a cutie! I LOVE how you used a riser on the buffet to create your Christmas vignette. What a great idea my brilliant friend!
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome T-DAY!!!
hugs from here...
Olive, I love the santas. So sweet. Growing up anything decorative was nonexistent...so I can remember anything my mother had that was nice. She had a box that was like a fat snowman and one of those little glittery nativity scenes. Seeing things that have some age on them..takes me back in time. Thanks for sharing your santas. Happy thanksgiving to you, Joe and CC. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a set of 4 of the Santa mugs when my girls were young. I don't know what ever happened to them. I'll have to ask the girls if they know.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving, Olive.
Olive,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by House on the Way today! This is my first time here. I love the Santa mugs! They remind me of my childhood. We had some Santa mugs and they were always my favorite.
My Twirl & Take a Bow linky party starts at midnight and runs till Sunday. I'd love for you to join in and link up!

I like those Santas! Especially the wink. Look forward to see what you do with the area next... Ann
ReplyDeleteOh, how sweet is your little Santie mug! He is little. Your stag mugs are pretty too. You're ahead of the game decorating for Christmas, aren't you? I do have my tree up! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving and be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I love those little Santa mugs, too. I've got a few of them, but the question is where did I put them last year?!
ReplyDeleteWe had a similar Santa mug growing up. In fact we had five different ones...different sizes, facial expressions, etc. It truly signified that we had decorated for Christmas when the Santa mugs came out and sat on the kitchen window sill. My mother would stick sprigs of holly from the holly bush in the yard and a couple of Pyracantha berries. Thanks for bringing back a great memory! Happy Thanksgiving Ya'll!
ReplyDeleteSanta looks well loved. Wonder if those were for eggnog, since they are sort of small. Or maybe we're just used to the super huge mugs nowadays. I've been on the lookout for some Santa mugs this year. If I get desperate I can always get the Pottery Barn ones.
ReplyDeleteMy mom always made hot cocoa in those same sweet mugs... every year! So cute! Good lock finding a hutch. I bet you will get something fabulous! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
~Liz
Those Santa mugs are pretty amazing! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteYou are the second blog this week with those vintage Christmas mugs. My Grandmother had those mugs and they bring back such fond memories. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteMy dearest Olive,
ReplyDelete"Her" and I agree on the Santa mug - crazing is just nom nom nom! And the reindeerz mugs are nice too, but give them a hundred years or so and they too will have the wonderful crazing. Okay well give or take a few years. And one last thing just so mew knows, the Santa mug is so that one does not drink too much egg nog and end up with a belly ache. Trust me, I knowz!
Purrs,
Romeo
Love the vintage SAnta mug with the newer mugs. Your buffet looks great. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute Santa mug!

I think the little Santa mugs were part of an Eggnog set that had a BIG Santa for the eggnog. I'd be doing a lot of winking too (: Thanksgiving blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteOlive~ I have close cousins to your Santa mugs that belonged to my great aunt. It was a great treat to drink cider out of them. Love the winking one :) Wishing you & your family a Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteOH you know I love them! I love the mix of old and new! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteDear Olive,
ReplyDeleteLove the mugs. What a great vignette on your buffet. Love the vases!
