Cooling Off

Super radiant heat flowing through my body can be immensely inconvenient.
The heat feels like I am being infused with a hot hot liquid. It occurs at the worst of times, like when I am speaking to a stranger, or our pastor, or shopping with my husband. Then I get wiggly and irritated from the heat. I am convinced I appear quite odd. Or…odder than usual. Menopause is the cause. Not for me being odd but for my extraordinary flashes of heat. The withdrawal of that important hormone estrogen from a women's body causes the cessation of periods, the inability to reproduce, and the onset of menopause and what is commonly known as hot flashes.

There is help for my super radiant heat now. I gently place Poise Cooling Towelettes on my pulse points, at my wrists and neck, and the towelettes instantly provide a cooling sensation. The Poise Cooling Towelettes are easily kept in my purse. I have had these samples for about a week now and I can whip out my Poise Cooling Towelettes at the first inkling of a hot flash. I keep a second pack of towelettes, that I purchased, on my bedside table because night sweats are always a possibility too.

If you are not aware of it by now, I am a Registered Nurse and drift into medical speak at times (it's my default language when I talk about sex). Vaginal dryness can make intimacy difficult and even painful. Fess up, you know we all want to have great sex. Poise provides a Personal Lubricant that gives long lasting lubrication that can result in increased intimacy (yes, I've tried it). Poise Personal Lubricant is made without fragrance, glycerin, or parabens. Proper lubrication can be a game changer. Let's enter into intimacy, with our partners, with confidence.

Fifty million women across North America are approaching or are in menopause. They may experience some or all of the symptoms of menopause. These symptoms include hot flashes, night sweats, painful intercourse, increased anxiety or irritability, and increased need to urinate with possible bladder leakage. The 2013 Product of the Year award winning Poise feminine wellness line was created to help women stay fresh and comfortable.

Other products in the Poise line include Roll On Cooling Gel that provides cooling and refreshment. The effects last for up to ten minutes. Panty Fresheners have a fresh and clean scent that lasts up to four hours. These are hypoallergenic and stick to your undergarment. Feminine Wash is a gentle wash that helps you feel clean and fresh. It is pH-balanced, glycerin, and paraben free.

You can visit the Poise Facebook page for more information and to get a coupon or sample!

  1. Olive, I will be the first to comment because so many women are just simply not willing to talk about menopause. I have had a terrible time at times..and it has not been fun..but I have made changes..no pun intended...:-) and continue to do so...these products are new to me but worth looking into...

  2. wish I'd had some of this 6 years ago when my life was a mess. The cooling toweletts sound wonderful even now. You did a great post on this tough subject matter!!

  4. I am long past menopause but I sure could have used those towelettes last summer. I would get so hot and itchy at times. Not sure what the cause was but my doctor lowered my synthroid a little and that helped.
I'm glad that they have developed these products to help women through menopause.

  5. I am WAY PAST menopause but I will try the towelettes . . . great for a steamy day! Menopause definetly needs more discussion and a helpfulness for each of us . . .

  6. Where was this stuff when I needed it? You can be sure I will tell a friend who is having a terrible time with hot flashes right now!

  7. I went into menopause in my early forty's and it ain't over yet!! I could use those cooling towelettes. When I'm having a hot flash, I just try to mentally leave my body and tell myself it will be over in a few minutes. Any little thing to make it more bearable helps.

    XO,
    Jane

  8. I seriously don't know how people used to get through menopause without assistance. If you think back to the 1800's, women must have had a heck of a time getting some peace with it. Great article!

  9. Hi Olive! I have to commend you on a very well written post and probably one most of us would never try to tackle! I had a hysterectomy when I was 35 and that threw me immediately into menopause! I'm 61 and I'm almost finished, I think. It's been a long hard road and there are so many things now available that weren't back then. I appreciate this info and I just may get some little towelettes! You fall back into your default language any time you want to and help us old gals! :)
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia :)

  10. My hysterectomy was at the age of 31!! So I've dealt with one symptom or another for almost half my life! (I'll be 62 on my next b'day). The dryness we experience as part of menopause is my worst symptom now! So uncomfortable. I will be trying these products for sure.

  11. Well I'm not there yet! I'm 48 so I guess you would call it perimenopause. I will definitely keep these products in mind when it's my time though. It's good to know there are products like this out there for those in need! I plan on taking advantage of anything out there that will help since I've heard so many stories about what to expect. I'm not looking forward to it.

  14. Olive, I am in the midst of everything you mentioned in your post. When I saw the Poise picture, I immediately thought about leakage, pads, etc. I still get periods (at 54 good gracious - when will they stop!) and even had to take a pregnancy test before recent surgery - I'd laugh, but I might wet my pants.... So good to know they have these other products. I get the sweats at night usually, so I look forward to trying those towelettes and seeing if I cool down and can be comfortable. I appreciate your frank, honest post about a subject that many find embarrassing. Ann

  28. Think still in a bit of shock I went into early menopause. I had thyroid cancer, had surgery and radiation, then on suppression therapy. Apparently can happen but no Dr. ever said it to me. So just when we were talking about having a 2nd child my body quits an dries up -- literally. In a sad mode right now but trying to find my way out of it confidently right now.
