Organized?

My only foray into Christmas decorating is this bowl of baseballs in our den.
I had to ask Joe what kind of balls they were because I am
not a sports fan but I love their graphic beauty.
Okay laugh at me.

I went to the grocery store yesterday afternoon and it was CRAZY.
Everyone and their grandma was in there buying turkeys and what not.
Of course I forgot a few items and must go back.
 Please pinch me.
Thanksgiving is one week from today and I have got to get busy.
I have not cooked the whole menu in years.
Tell me you are more organized than I am.

joy and peace

  1. Hi Olive... love your bowl of baseballs!... I am a big baseball fan, and since I was a tomboy growing up, I was pretty good at it!... I think I am kind of obsessed with being organized all the time... I shopped several days ago and spent well over an hour in the grocery store, up and down every aisle so as not to forget a thing... I am sure you will prepare a fabulous meal!...'cause everything you do turns out great!... xoxo Julie Marie

  2. Hi Olive! That's a pretty bowl of balls! :) Now this will make you feel great - I haven't even shopped for Thanksgiving and we're having relatives come! :) I work good under pressure.
    Be a sweetie,

  5. Love those baseballs in the red bowl! We won't be home until Sunday PM and I'll have to be really hustling, so you're probably way ahead of me!!!

  6. Haha. And I thought I wasn't a sports fan. That is so funny. And they make a great centerpiece. :-)

  7. Nope, I leave it all to the last minute. Every time I vow to be more organized and every year, I'm not! ~ Maureen

  8. I am not organized at all. I don't host it this year so all I have to make is a pumpkin pie to carry to my brother's. I will have a house full of munchkins though and will have to cook for them all the other days.

  9. Oh dear you sound a little stressed, I am glad that I do not have to give a thought to Thanksgiving, it not being something us Brits celebrate. I am sure it will all work out fine, have a Happy Thanksgiving my friend.

  10. No I am not. Today I'm going to get the turkey. Monday I will get the rest. There are only four of us this year, so it will be simple and quiet. A nice change from the usual madness that always seemed to consume me during the holiday season.

I see you are reading "A Walk in the Woods" - what a great book! If you like it you will have to try some of his other ones too! Love his humor. Have a good weekend Olive! Ann

  11. I agree that you can make anything look wonderful! Hope you are well - sorry I haven't been around for a while. Good luck with all the Thanksgiving preparations - I'm sure it will all come right in the end! :)

  12. Good Evening Olive, Don't you find that although you think you are not prepared when it comes to celebrations, it always turns out well on the day. You will find everything will fall into place. Best Wishes Daphne

  13. The bowl of baseballs is awesome, Olive. And no, I'm not organized either.

Thanks so much for your input on Claudia's blog in response to my mention of a sleep number bed. There's nothing like hearing from someone who actually owns and sleeps on one!

Good luck with your complete dinner this Thanksgiving!!!

  14. I think shopping a week in advance is way organized ~ even if you did forget a few things. If I was cooking I'd be at the market on Monday or Tuesday (:

    P.S. luv your centerpiece Olive ~ you're a hoot.

  15. Your red bowl is gorgeous! I am cooking the whole dinner on Sunday. Still trying to clean house to get ready and make room. I did make my first trip to the grocery store today and was surprised by the chaos! I thought I was ahead of the rush, but I guess not. Happy Thanksgiving!

  16. No, I'm not more organized. Working on that. lol Love the bowl.

  17. I wish - but 'fraid not. Love your red bowl. This Christmas, people are going to have to take me as they find me as we say. I'm sure your meal will be wonderful. Happy Thanksgiving

  20. Love that great bowl! While I have cooked T-Day every year... I'm not any more organized than you right now. I'll be fighting the crazies this weekend too:@)

  21. Well I think you're halfway there now. Just going to the store to buy your ingredients is half the battle! I'm a bit OCD when it comes to organization. I live by lots of lists. I feel that is the first step to any project I take on. With the holidays coming though, it always increases my anxiety to be "ready". I can tell that's what's going on with you. Don't worry. It will all work out. Things always do.

  23. No, I'm not! This is my first Thanksgiving cooking for our extended family and I'm starting to lose sleep over it! I'm going to try to keep it simple, not at all like my mother's holiday meals. Will it work? Time will tell.

Good luck with your meal, too! I love the baseballs in the red bowl.

  24. I will not tell you that I am more organized, Olive..... in fact, I just issued the invitation to my mother to come and visit me for awhile. She lives 6 hours away with my brother. They both need a break! And dear husband? Just offered the suggestion of having someone cater the dinner. Complete with a tur-duck-in!! For a total of 4 people sitting around the table!!! Now that is funny!!!!

  25. Oh Olive I am not organized at all. I haven't even made my shopping list. I am cooking for only 4 so it won't be so bad...at least that's what I'm telling myself. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

  26. Ha! Organized?? Oh honey, just let me help you to feel better about yourself. I only have a vague idea what I might cook and don't even know for sure how many will be here. Will it be 4 for lunch and 4 four supper? Nine for lunch, 4 for supper? Twelve for lunch? Eleven for lunch? Or maybe we'll do it at night instead of lunch. Will that be 6, 7 or 9 people? LOL And I guess I'll have to clean house sometime between now and then. So I think you're doing great!

Like the bowl of baseballs, too.

  27. Are you kidding. I'm not even cooking and I'm not organized! This is my daughter-in-laws year to be with her family so we will be guests at my sisters. I'm working on Christmas..............

  28. Definitely not organized for Thanksgiving! I am having it at my house for the first time EVER! Yep, I've been married 28 years and have never hosted Thanksgiving. My mom or one of my aunts has always had it. However, it will be easy...it's just me, my hubby, our son, and my mom! I'm shopping for the turkey tomorrow. Bet the store will be crazy!

  29. OH I am so happy to say one of my son-in laws is doing the turkey cooking this year. He does a great job just too slow for me LOL where I am hungry and ready to eat by at least 1pm , till will be 4pm . So I must pack me a snack

I always forget things at the store even with a list , if I can find the list when I leave for the grocery store LOL

    Happy Turkey Day

  32. I never thought of putting a bunch of baseballs in a bowl as a way to decoration. That is neat. I'm going to do the same thing but with golf balls.
