Vintage Dresses and Toys

Part three of the grand Athens, Georgia estate sale.

I think these dresses are bridesmaids dresses but they could be prom dresses.

The hats are what makes me think of bridesmaids dresses.
The soft pinks and yellow are beautiful.

I did not look at the prices.
I was in a hurry.
Forgive my blurry pictures please.

These dresses appear handmade to me.
My aunt made my mother's prom dress in 1960 and her dress looks like these.

I squealed with joy upon entering this room nearly filled with children's toys.
These are miniature furniture pieces.
There was a cast iron stove in miniature that I did not get a picture of for two hundred dollars and many tiny baking pans.
Oh how I wanted to scoop them up and take them all home.
Have I mentioned I had only forty dollars in cash with me for this expensive sale?
Yikes.

I can see a photographer using this stroller as a prop.
I bought one item from the children's room.

This is the mantle in the children's room and I loved the details on it.

Next post I will share my items purchased, I hope, if I get more sunshine.

may joy and peace surround you

  3. Jan, no sun here. It is literally pouring down rain and I had to move the very small items to the yellow house. I have been in four cities in five days-I am a nomad. Olive

  6. It is sort of sad to see the sale of all this homes treasures. Was it a personal home before the sale? You may have mentioned it already. Just curious.

  10. Elaine, it was the home of an elderly woman who died and the family sold it. That family is very well known in that city and the house next door which is part of the family has a historical marker. The house has been sold and is being restored by the new owners so I am happy about that. I am sure the family kept the very best objects that they wanted. I have the attitude, at such sales, that I am helping the family. Or I hope so anyway. Olive

  11. My BFF loves estate sales but I get antsy with the competition. It's out of my comfort zone. Not sure why cause I love yardsales and auctions. Something about waiting in line I guess. But we have scored some great treasures.
    Love that children's furniture!
    Have a great Wed.
    xoxo,
    Kim

  18. I had a yellow formal with rose lace, when I was in Jr High. I was in Theta Rho. We needed formals for different events. Theta Rho was for girls whose mother's were in Rebecca's part of IOOF. The photo of the yellow formal/dress reminded me of my yellow formal.
