Yes, I have painted a coffee table. It had lovely classic lines when I saw it at a church sale, last fall, and it was priced so low I felt the need to rescue it despite the fact I rarely paint furniture. I have no before image but the top of it was sorely abused and had numerous white rings on it.
I actually painted it last fall and finally waxed it this weekend. You are envious of my speed I know. I was spurred on by the fact I had to get to my lawn mower and the table was in my way. I cut grass (mostly weeds) yesterday with the push mower.
I distressed the edge all around the circumference of the table. I will be selling it. I hope someone will want it anyway. Don't hang on the edge of your seats waiting for another project such as this because it is time to play with flowers.

Oh I like it!...Round and black...perfect in my book!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT Olive! That's going to be a quick sale!
ReplyDeletei have to ask - what did it look like before? would look great in a kitchen with white accents. nice work. ( :
ReplyDeleteForget the table, I'm impressed that you were using a push mower! You can do everything!
ReplyDeleteI love painted furniture, I have painted several things in my house
ReplyDeleteI am liking it painted black very much, sure someone will want it
I think that table is smashing; classic color and classic lines.
ReplyDeleteFun post today Olive. Like you, I'm looking forward to playing with the flowers, although the weather needs to get much better first! I'm sure someone will snap up that little black table. It looks really good and you've done a good job on it. Have a lovely weekend my friend.
ReplyDeleteWow! beautiful. And I am so impressed with your timing. Around here it is called the "expediency" method. I'm all for dealing with anything that I absolutely have to. ;0) (Enjoy the ironing...)
ReplyDeleteThat turned out so great...I can just imagine it before...it has a wonderful trendy look now!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I like the way you work! :)
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Olive, I absolutely love it! I am a big fan of old furniture painted black and distressed. I have an old table and 4 chairs that I painted black and use in my little dining area.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great table! I love a round coffee table because it helps take the edges off a square room with mostly square furniture in them. Black is a great color for a coffee table. I bet someone will take it off your hands in no time!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous table Olive. You did a great job on the finish, love the distressed look on the edge. I think we move at about the same speed! Happy Spring, hope enjoy your weekend.

Olive, you are too funny! I love the look of it and like that it is round. I have a round coffee table and love it. I bet it will sell fast:)
ReplyDeleteThat looks great. I'm sure you'll sell it quickly. I still have a rocker in my garage that I started refinishing 10 years ago, so you're actually pretty quick in my book!
ReplyDeleteYou are as fast as I am... ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDeleteI work at the same speed as you! Thank you. I sometimes marvel how bloggers can crank out one project after another, while I can barely finish mine.
ReplyDeleteThe table has nice lines and will surely sell fast. Lucky you, enjoying warm spring weather!
You did a great job on the coffee table. If it flies out the door, that may inspire you to keep on painting! :-)

Love it, Olive! I love that it is round, too. I have a big square coffee table that I painted black about three years ago. It was before chalk paint hit the scene so I used a black satin paint. It needs to be refreshed and I'm thinking of redoing it with black chalk paint.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have so often been tempted to paint my coffee table black. You know what else? It's good to know that there is someone else who does not always promptly finish projects. I am trying to be better, really I am.
ReplyDeleteSo now you have prodded me on. Thanks for that and have a great weekend!
Big Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
I like it. Great job...Connie
