Lemons are an integral part of our culinary life. I slice them into iced tea, bake them over fish, and zest them into all manner of dishes. Why not display them beautifully? Here I have them paired with my favorite color of blue pottery. Lemons also look wonderful in clear glass dishes or hurricanes.
I have had this blue pottery compote, tray, and large Italian tray stored for a while but decided they needed to be on the kitchen island. Now, I should make lemon curd again. I also have red potatoes in a dough bowl and onions in another blue bowl. I like fruits and vegetables sitting around in bowls. It looks warm and cozy.

ReplyDeleteI went to Bloglovin, but I don't see how to make it come up in a list of my blogs (one without pictures) so that I can get more blogs on my screen. Do you know how to do that?

I like to keep my lemons displayed in the summer when I am using them like mad...they make everything look so fresh. I really don't have much of anything blue I have realized and I do love how well yellow and blue look together. I know you love playing with your island as much as I do, it looks wonderful!

ReplyDeleteThe lemons make for such a pretty picture in your blue bowl, Olive. I have some faux lemons that I usually bring out when it gets warmer and put in a tall apothecary jar I have.

ReplyDeleteI'm late, as usual, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your lemons! I like LEMONS with a little fish, chicken, shrimp, etc. One can NEVER have enough lemons! Our little tree down here in Louisiana has some babies; perhaps in November we can harvest (unless we have one of those PESKY hurricanes). Thanks for sharing what will HOPEFULLY come here later!

ReplyDeleteoooh, this is gorgeous,LOVE those curtains!!
ReplyDeleteI remember from another post of yours that I share your love of lemons. They are the most important piece of produce in my refrigerator. And I love the look of them in glass bowls or in blue dishes like yours. I used to try keeping a glass bowl handy in the refrigerator as Alexandra Stoddard suggested but they really keep fresher in my crisper drawer. Lemon recipes are my favorite. I even spritz fresh lemon juice on Hagen Daz vanilla ice cream, something suggested by Jan Karon that I tried. Now it's my favorite dessert.
ReplyDeleteLemons are beautiful aren't they? My neighbor also has a home in California and they just returned here last week. She brought me huge fresh lemons from her tree. I was thrilled and will be using them in and on my asparagus dish for Easter brunch. Happy Easter Olive.
ReplyDeleteComing your way from Distressed Donna's blog! I look forward to meeting her some day myself. Happy to be following along via bloglovin and looking forward to some of your gardening posts!
