Linens, Frame, Lamp

Matelasse coverlets, spreads, and shams sell well for me. This one needed work but hot water, time, and OxyClean transformed it. Matelasse gives a bed character and texture. All items shown on this post Joe and I picked up, last Saturday, while thrifting.

These are basically new matelasse shams in down pillow inserts. I wash every item in hot water and OxyClean before it is sold. I iron frequently and adore my large Rowneta iron (found at an estate sale). Yes, I am a freak.

This is a sexy little black lamp. I am surely the Crazy Lamp Lady as I have sold many lamps and have lamps sitting all over the house in various states of repair.

I am keeping this large Florentine tray for myself. I find these pieces which are made in Italy off and on and I like them. They sell for a nice sum on One Kings Lane too. It will be useful and beautiful at Christmas.

This is one of a pair of 11" X 20" frames in a primitive wood that is both rustic and lovely. I can picture an ironstone platter hanging in them. I have no room for them. Drats. This is a small sample of what I delivered to The Rusty Gate in Tennille, Georgia on Friday.

happy thrifting

  1. My first time commenting . . . not my first visit . . . I met you yesterday when I was visiting RAZMATAZ . . . and started reading . . . and became lost in what was like reading fiction, yet in truth . . . it was your truth. I was wrapped into your life, a young girl with much strive yet faith, loss, sorrow unmatched . . . treasured daughter, a nurse, two houses, one old with histories, one yellow with charm and a man named Joe . . . Love, and more . . . I was lost and read and read more, and felt like falling in love with knowing you and the magic I was feeling. I am Lynne . . . and I am very happy to meet you!

  3. Wonderful finds! I love matelasse and was fortunate enough to find a big lot of it last year at a garage sale...I've done two bedrooms with it and enjoy the way I can change up the rooms against the neutral coverlets and shams! Love the Florentine tray and rustic frames, too!

  4. Hi Olive, I too love matelasse! I waited for 6 months several years ago for a cranberry one that was backordered at the Company Store. It is my bedspread from October to the middle of March. I still regret the king size white one I bypassed at T.J. Maxx years ago. I'm not a fan of puffy duvets or comforters.

I can understand why you're keeping that beautiful tray for yourself!

  11. I like your tip about Oxyclean and will buy some, since I have a sadly discolored old hand embroidered blouse and I want to try Oxyclean on it. Your bed spreads are gorgeous and I can see why people buy them.

  25. I just put a matelasse spread on my guest room bed the other day. I'm loving its simplicity. Love the frames. Too bad you have windows or else you would have room for the frames.
