Vintage Santa Mugs

A vintage Santa with new stag mugs.
The patina of the Santa mug is hard for me to resist.
I like that crazing.
Notice how small he is compared to the stag mugs.

This Santa is winking at us.
I have been slowing pulling Christmas dishes out of the cabinets.
Nothing is finished but I shall give you a sneak peak of the buffet.
It's too linear.
I need to shake it up.

I am searching for a china cabinet or Welch cupboard for this space.
I would like to display my china in it the way many of you do.

joy and peace
Olive

  1. Love the Santa mugs. I have been in search of a step-back cupboard for days now. It's fun but I'm slowing down. Must make a decision now. They are great for displaying china and lots of cupboard space. Check them out, it might be what you are looking for. Deb

  2. Like Deb, I love the Santa mugs! They look quite vintage. Don't tell me you bought them for a song, like you usually do. We never seem to have bargains like that over here in England!

Good luck on your huntboard hunting!

I have a few even smaller that were used way back when as nut cups... your displays are always pretty!... I had Jack take the doors off of my corner hutch in my kitchen so now I have open shelves and it's like having a whole new display area!... hope you and CC are having fun together!... xoxo Julie Marie

  10. Those Santa mugs look so familiar...we must have had them when I was a little girl. Love the stag mugs, too. I hope you find a cabinet you like, I looked high and low for the perfect Hoosier cabinet and I am in love with the one we found.

  11. Hi Olive! Your Santa mug made me smile when I saw him. He's a cutie! I LOVE how you used a riser on the buffet to create your Christmas vignette. What a great idea my brilliant friend!

  12. Olive, I love the santas. So sweet. Growing up anything decorative was nonexistent...so I can remember anything my mother had that was nice. She had a box that was like a fat snowman and one of those little glittery nativity scenes. Seeing things that have some age on them..takes me back in time. Thanks for sharing your santas. Happy thanksgiving to you, Joe and CC. xoxo, Susie

  13. We used to have a set of 4 of the Santa mugs when my girls were young. I don't know what ever happened to them. I'll have to ask the girls if they know.
    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Olive.

  17. I love those little Santa mugs, too. I've got a few of them, but the question is where did I put them last year?!

  18. We had a similar Santa mug growing up. In fact we had five different ones...different sizes, facial expressions, etc. It truly signified that we had decorated for Christmas when the Santa mugs came out and sat on the kitchen window sill. My mother would stick sprigs of holly from the holly bush in the yard and a couple of Pyracantha berries. Thanks for bringing back a great memory! Happy Thanksgiving Ya'll!

  19. Santa looks well loved. Wonder if those were for eggnog, since they are sort of small. Or maybe we're just used to the super huge mugs nowadays. I've been on the lookout for some Santa mugs this year. If I get desperate I can always get the Pottery Barn ones.

  23. My dearest Olive,

"Her" and I agree on the Santa mug - crazing is just nom nom nom! And the reindeerz mugs are nice too, but give them a hundred years or so and they too will have the wonderful crazing. Okay well give or take a few years. And one last thing just so mew knows, the Santa mug is so that one does not drink too much egg nog and end up with a belly ache. Trust me, I knowz!
