Are you perky in the morning?
I'm not. CC, our daughter is certainly not. She does not form language well. She kind of growls at us. I bought this coffee cup for her at a thrift store.
I am having fun with the island to the degree Clovis, our cat, allows it. He eats on the island and I have tried to configure a cat friendly vignette on it. He is not a morning cat. He often gets up, eats and goes back to bed.
Spoiled cat.
The large platter, ironstone platter, and cow creamer do not get in the cat's way. We would not want to upset him now would we? One day last week Shelley, our German Shepherd, was chasing him and Clovis nearly pulled this tray down on his head whilst executing a jump onto the island. I have moved the tray to the center of the island for him since that incident.
Drama, we have it.
I also purchased this Organic Housekeeping book yesterday and read half of it. That is why I did not post or pick up my laptop. Sometimes I get lost in books. Those are lovely days.
Today it will get to 74 degrees and I am going out to spread wood stove ashes around my hydrangea (trying to turn it pink). Then I am going to rake. Raking is an endless task here. There is absolutely no need to join a gym with all the garden tasks we have. I will be back tonight to visit with all of you. I am not picking up that book.
Promise.
joy and peace

That is a beautiful vignette. Don't let that cat knock off that wonderful tray!! Isn't it sad that we plan our homes around our pets? No, not really. LOL

Oh people and their pets. When my husband reads the paper, he cannot put any of it on the couch. Bentley will growl...it is in HIS way!
ReplyDelete74! We had 7 inches of snow last night. I am a morning person.
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty vignette on your island. I hope the pets don't knock it off.
ReplyDeleteI am not a morning person. I have to have my coffee and wake up slowly.
74 degrees! I wish we had half of that to melt of the layer of ice we have this morning, I went out a little bit ago and almost slipped down the steps. I decided I didn't need to go out today.
ReplyDeleteYard work is good exercise! But......I hate raking. I always feel so sore afterwards. My husband takes care of all of that anyway. I am enjoying the warmer weather we're having. Sounds like you will be right out there enjoying it too. You'll have to share some good tips from that book when you can. It looks interesting!
I've been spotting your awesome island (or fancy cat perch) all over blogdom! Still amazing every time I see it.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your work-out!
I need a mug like that one. I am definitely NOT a morning person! I love, love that island, but I've told you that before!

I'm the furthest thing you will find from a morning person. Whenever I think about getting a dog, I remember having to feed the cats up on the breakfast counter and think maybe not. I'm sure I'll break down someday if you don't keep reminding me of the extra work.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it we always want what we cannot have. My hydrangeas are pink, but how I wish they were blue. In actual fact it is easier to turn pink hydrangeas blue than the task you have given yourself Olive. I do not think that your ash will have much effect sadly. You would probably be best to grow a pink hydrangea from scratch in a very large pot using the correct soil i.e alkaline - the soil in your garden must be acid
ReplyDeleteI'm a lot like you and Clovis...xoxo
ReplyDeleteOlive, Yard work is exercise as one of your followers, Kelley , says. I shovel the snow in the drive for a workout. I rake, sweep the porch and walks...anything to exercise. But I am not getting near enough these days. Yes, I could run the sweeper everyday..zzzz..oh sorry I just dozed off thinking of that boring chore. Dusting is my least favorite chore.:):) xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeletep.s. love CC's new cup:):)
Hi Olive... what a darling cup!.. . I AM a morning person though... to me, it is the best part of the day... love to get up early and see what each new day holds in store for me... especially, with Spring coming... I am envious of your 70 degree temps!... love your little vignette... Clovis must too and that is why he gets up there!... kitty has good taste!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteHi Olive. I'm bright enough in the mornings, but I love the cup! Clovis is a princely cat! I always love your vignettes. I love days when I can get lost in a book!
ReplyDeleteI was just dreaming about your island this morning!
ReplyDeleteYou could always move the creamer and the white dish because if Clovis is anything like my cats, he would probably enjoy laying upon the platter. Just sayin'.
That's a beautiful island! Good idea to keep in mind the antics of the fur friends. :-) That shepherd is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour white pieces look so pretty on the island. Hopefully Mr. Kitty approves and doesn't decide to redecorate!

Love the colored border on the platter! I like the mornings:@)
ReplyDeletewhen i was young i love the morning. i woke up ready to start my day in a heart beat. but as i have gotten older i have to seriously pry open my eyes i feel so slow & have to rev up my engine to get going. ha. ha!! coffee does not help. i wonder if it is because i don't get sleep any more. the hubby snores so i get less & less sleep. love that coffee cup. i thin Clovis has to enjoy the new look. i like it tons!! ha. ha!! ( :
ReplyDeleteLike CC - I don't do winter mornings either - but coffee in that cup would certainly help things along.
ReplyDeleteNot a morning person, although when I get up early I like the feeling of getting chores done and I still have most of the day to play. My husband, on the other hand, always gets up early...he could never understand why the kids didn't want to chat with him over breakfast before they left for school.

Lovely vignette. The cow creamer is super cute. And raking is a great exercise. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteUgh. Morning. Used to be a morning person not by choice when kids were little. I'm not sure when I peak now. My first thought on the mug is how it blended so nicely with your new island and I'm willing to bet Clovis looks darn good up there too. So, I will now cease referring to it as your island and instead say Clovis' island. Cats rule. Ann
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little vignette. I love that coffee cup. I was a night person until I had kids. I'm not perky in the morning, not grumpy, just.....awake. Definitely need coffee. lol
ReplyDeleteI have one of those cow creamers too. Love it. Since I retired and don't have to get up so early I am in a much better mood in the morning. That extra hour of sleep really makes a difference. Do you know anything about putting coffee grounds on hydrangeas?
ReplyDeleteI'm a morning person, love the start of a new day. Enjoy the warm weather...it's warm here for two days and I'm lovin' it!!! Hope the ashes help your hydrangea. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
I'm a morning person but come evening time I'm like you are in the morning. I had to laugh about your daughter because my daughter was just like that. Now that she's married, she's gotten a whole lot better. Enjoy your day, Gail
ReplyDeleteHere in No. Illinois it was 65 degrees yesterday...today we expect a high of 18! I spent yesterday covering my gardens with leaf mulch to trick the plants into thinking it really wasn't 65 because today they'll freeze! We're due for snow so perhaps I'll spread some ash after that.
ReplyDeleteFunniest coffee cup EVER!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Olive! Well, I don't drink coffee so I guess I do okay with mornings. I have known a few folks who were certainly not themselves. Love that little cow creamer.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
That is just the most beautiful island! Are you sick of hearing that yet? Have you considered putting a small table next to it and putting the cat things on that? Maybe you'd nudge the cat over to it little by little.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Morning who...? What ....? Oh... no. Definitely not! Love the cup tho!
ReplyDeleteThe things we do for our pets!!
ReplyDeleteLove the mug - love it!!
Can't believe you found that mug thrifting! Haha my husband is the worst morning person in the world. He wouldn't be very amused if I got something like this for him :)
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog. Love the "Hold lightly Series". You are a gifted writer. Left me wanting to read more. Thank you
ReplyDeleteI love that mug...too cute...I am somewhat a morning person...depends on the season...not so much now! I love that iron stone platter...gorgeous...you find the coolest things!!
ReplyDeleteNOT a morning cat and she is not a morning peep. We can certainly relate to this scenario. As for Clovis...he's not spoiled, he's SMART! Think about it - wouldn't you like to get up eat your breakfast and then crawl back into a nice warm bed with a nice full tummy?! See. I rest my case.
