Don't you think it is serendipitous when beauty is matched by functionality?
That is what we have got in this secretary I bought from my friend The Talented B.
She and her husband painted it with Valspar's Linen paint.
Tear drop pulls attract me every time.
Ball and claw feet get me too.
We will be organizing our bills and insurance papers in this piece.
I knew it would fit perfectly by our front door and it does.

It is perfect for the space...beautiful and functional, too! Great find!
ReplyDeleteHope you are well, sorry it has been so long since I have felt up to commenting. I love this piece of furniture which we Brits call a bureau. :)
ReplyDeleteDon't know how folks live without some flat surface inside the front door. Three drawers are icing on the cake. I have to routinely go through the chest at our front door and pitch my brother-in-law's tools, however. Put the hammer away when you're done, for crying out loud!
ReplyDeleteooooh, it's gorgeous!! I thought you'd gotten out that dusty paintbrush for a moment!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great find and functional too! It fits perfectly by the front door. I have a piece similar except it has one draw and two doors with shelves. It sits by my front door too. It has been in the family for years and I just can't bring myself to paint it.
ReplyDeleteGreat score Olive, it is beautiful and thank you for pointing out the pulls and feet, they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I have a desk about that size to hold stationary and odds and ends. They really do hold a lot and yours looks great! Enjoy your afternoon!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece Olive!! Love the pretty display you created too!
ReplyDeleteHi Olive! Oh, I love it and it looks so pretty where it's sitting! I'm sure it will be a useful but beautiful piece of furniture.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Love the secretary! Perfect color too.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was made for that wall-perfect:@)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece and gorgeous color. Perfect!!

Olive, That is the cutest piece of furniture to have right by the door. Perfect so catching and organizing the mail. Hope all of you are well. Hugs to your C.C. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteThe talented B's did a great job painting this piece, but they always do. You have styled it so well. It fits that space perfectly.
ReplyDeleteLucky girl to catch that when someone else had already done the hard work. :) It's a lovely piece of furniture.
ReplyDeleteIt's just perfect. I've got one exactly the same, which used to belong to my mum. It's still in the walnut wood, but I am going to strip it down and paint it. It looks lovely where you have positioned it.
ReplyDeleteI love those drop front desks and I have one in the basement with a broken leg a clean break LOL just need to get it back up on all legs and paint it
ReplyDeleteI like your tall claw foot legs
What a gorgeous piece - and I love how you have it decorated, too. I have my grandma's secretary desk in my bedroom. I would love to have it painted and restored someday. Your friend did a beautiful job with yours!
ReplyDeleteHome decorating is a dream when you find the perfect piece of furniture. That is such a great paint color!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty piece and it fits perfectly right where you have it!
ReplyDeleteThe size and functionality of this piece is perfect. The lovely details of the claw feet and tear drop pulls would have gotten my attention as well. Very nice addition to your room!

It's so pretty. Love it!

Susan and Bentley
I love it! It is such a great size and has a lot of character for a small piece. Something like that would fit in perfectly here, given our smaller accommodations. : )
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful ! I love your curtains!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful piece! I didn't know the pulls were called tear drop pulls. I learned something new! Isn't there something about little cubbyholes too that makes it so dear? I love that.
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful piece....so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt was so beautiful, warm and charming until you mentioned "bills." Way to ruin the dreamy feel!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your little secretary. They are great little pieces of furniture, they store stuff and can fit in any room. Alaina
ReplyDeleteOh, it is a great piece. Looks perfect right there!
ReplyDeleteI have been looking everywhere for a secretary like this. If you find another one, please let me know. I'll make the trip!
