Pink Camellias have made their way inside to the kitchen island.
One delightful outcome of adding this humble vintage piece is that
it is in a fabulously sunny spot for photographs.
You have been forewarned my darlings.
Last night I ironed those tab cafe curtains in the window.
We found them at the Catholic Thrift Store for a few dollars.
The window needed some softening.
They need hemming but for now they can be as
caddy wampus as the island and me for that matter.
Here is a close up of the pattern.
I like it and they are from Ikea from the worn label.
The camellias almost look like three fluffy cupcakes.
We feel as if our little kitchen received a mini low budget make over.
It feels very cozy and we both can chop vegetables within a foot of the sink and cook together.
And Dear Lord, I might share a recipe tomorrow.
That scares me by the way.
joy and peace

That is such a bright inviting kitchen, the table is perfect. I have got to find some thrift stores near me... The flowers do look like cupcakes. You need to find some of those special striped or polkadoted cupcake cups and put your flowers in them. That would make for a cute photo op.
ReplyDeleteThe table suits your kitchen perfectly. I'm so glad you are happy with it!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore the pink against the sunny yellow.
ReplyDeleteThe curtain is lovely and I love the shot with curtain detail and Clovis through the screen.
I just love your new kitchen island Olive, and your Camellias are just stunning!... I would be photographing all day there too in that glorious sunlight! Can't wait for your recipe!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteThe camellias are gorgeous. Your kitchen looks sunny, warm and inviting.

Love the camelias, curtains and that sunny spot. My house is dark so I have sunny spot envy.
ReplyDeleteThe table is perfect for your perfect photo shoots. Is the cake plate ironstone or milkglass. I saw a milkglass cake plate yesterday in the shop next door that was $50. I wanted it sooo badly. NEVER!
ReplyDeleteYour camellias are just so gorgeous. A luxury we don't have here in the Midwest!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous you have those beautiful pink blooms. I love them so much. too cold here. Maybe someday. Richard from my Old Historic House.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful camelias Olive and, very pretty curtains. Flowers and different curtains really do change the room and makes you feel as if you've re decorated !!
ReplyDelete.... and, the ginger cat outside your window is just like our first cat Jaffa. We had him for 21 years and I still miss him. XXXX
Love your post! Please don't tell me those flowers are from your garden in February!! If so, I need to move further south. They look so pretty on your white cake plate. Perfect curtains---no need to hem!

Pretty. Don't know what state you call home, but hope the camellias are from your garden.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Love your colors! Thanks for sharing Joann
ReplyDeleteTruly lovely camellias. I showed some of mine floating in a bowl last week. Your display area is FABULOUS, with the sun streaming through.
ReplyDeleteA ready made studio are for you to have great fun then.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are heavenly!! I don't think we see those much up here, just beautiful! and they do look like perfect little decorated cuppies! yummy, what are you making us tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteYou'll have as much fun as I'm having with my little french cupboard. Great for photos. Those blooms are beautiful and so are the curtains. I love the softness of them. Then throw a cat into the picture and you have 'purr...fection'.
ReplyDeleteI love camellias. Mine are still in bud but shouldn't be too long before they come out.
ReplyDeleteI'm a newcomer and your place - your home and your blog - is one of beauty! And your photography is wonderful . . . so full of light! The pink camellias are beautiful; I can almost smell them.
ReplyDeleteA recipe!!! I can't wait. I do love the curtains. I'm always amazed at the massive amount of curtains the thrift stores have. People must change out their curtains a lot. I have had the same set for over 10 years and will probably have them for another 10. Just cutting edge decorating over here!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for having some great natural light! Not any in my house:@( The flowers are beautiful-enjoy. As for the recipe-you go girl:@)
ReplyDeleteThe camellias are beautiful...wish we had them here! Love the curtains, too~ such a sweet and delicate pattern!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely sunny spot to show off your camellias or anything else you want to show.
ReplyDeleteOlive,
ReplyDeleteyour table is the perfect place to have fun decorating and to take photos! I've been looking for something for my kitchen on the same order but can't decide if I would get tired of walking around it cuz sink and stove & frig are on opposite walls. Love the color and the wood top. Curtains are adorable, perfect for your kitchen!
