Ironstone Butter Dish

The ironstone butter dish I bought at the porch sale ended up on our bar.

Next to a Reed and Barton pitcher and a tin of French tea.

Do you see the Red Velvet Cake?
My resolve not to have cake evaporated.
For anyone who may not know Red Velvet Cake is really a chocolate cake in disguise.
 It is difficult to resist.

CC and I have been having a blast.
Thanks to all of you for commenting on her Korean soccer picture in the last post.
Joe and I are going to garage sales in the morning.
Are you going out this weekend?
Do share in the comments.

happy hunting

  1. It all works great together! I hit a yard sale today and then a flea market. It was wicked hot but worth it! ~ Maureen

  2. Olive, The butter dish is wonderful and I love your pretty vignette.
    Have a great weekend.

  3. That red velvet cake looks awfully tempting! Nice vignette.

  4. Love the little riser on your bar with some special pretties! That cake looks too good. Who gets the last piece?
    Mary Alice

  5. Did you know that traditionally, red velvet was a chocolate beet cake? Or at least that is what I red today.

I made chocolate beet cake today using beets that I grew in my garden. I am waiting for it to cool so I can spread it with peanut butter frosting.

BTW that is a gorgeous butter dish!!!

  6. I would almost give up my life for Red Velvet Cake!!!! Love it! In fact...I am going to add this to my list of foods I want for my last meal when I am on death row. What? Well you never know and I just want to be prepared. Got nothing going this weekend except church on Sunday as well as my grandson's ballgame. At least it won't be 100 degrees like it was today.

  7. Oh no. You are hiding things from me! You know how I love ironstone. I don't have a butter dish. Hint. Hint.

  8. I could sneak in and steal that pretty little butter dish Olive. The shape is wonderful!
Nope, I won't be going out anytime soon. Hubby's sick and I'm his nursemaid : ).

  9. Lovely photos and arrangements Olive - busy this weekend, my youngest son is coming to stay with his family, and my eldest son and family only left yesterday. Piles of washing and lots of food to make.

  10. Lovin' your new butter dish! And yep, I had planned to comment on noticing that great looking cake, I couldn't resist either-enjoy:@)

  11. Butter, tea and cake...sounds like a party to me!
I think fighting for the last piece of cake could be an official Olympic event...don't you?

  12. I love that dish. Now I will be on the hunt for one.

  13. Of course I saw that piece of cake! I am hungry just thinking about it!

    Love your dish, my friend.

  14. That is the cutest little ironstone butterdish ever. Really makes for a cute vignette. Cake, well, I have had plenty the past week. Lots of birthdays this month!

  15. Hi Olive, I love the white butter dish. Perfect with your other pieces, and I love the cheese board. I'm sure that red velvet cake disappears fast, it would here. I would love to sit down and have a slice with you.
    Enjoy your day.

  18. I love your posts. I'm so disappointed we don't have garage sales around here. We have car boot sales which can be huge but they get commercial andi t's hard to see a bargain. hugs xx
