~little trees~

We have an enormous tree that I may not photograph until 2014 and a little kitchen tabletop tree on the bar which I jokingly call the autopsy table. I have been fussing with gingerbread cookies for this tree all week. One hard earned tip, chill the dough for two days at least. One day for me was not chilled enough for my dough to roll out properly. The second day was soooo much easier. I made extra cookies to give away to our neighbors. All my cookie cutters are from garage sales. The star and diamond shapes are from vintage cookie cutters.

The next tree is a smaller one that I believe to be vintage. We bought it at an estate sale last weekend. It is marked Japan on the bottom and has signs of age on the berries. It looks perfect on the table with the funky lamp.

We paid five dollars for this little tree and  I felt that was a bit pricey but had to have it. Maybe I can talk CC into taking pictures of the large tree with her swanky camera for me.

I am linking with Laurie at Bargain Hunting (and Chatting) With Laurie for Some of My Favorite Things Saturday link party because Christmas trees are some of my favorites. Do visit Laurie who is definitely another favorite of mine.

  16. Even as a kid, I always thought it was so cool when someone had cookies on their tree for decorations!!! You pulled off a little masterpiece, Miss Olive! Cute AND edible. I also like your sweet tree next to the vintage lamp. I can remember those lampshades from the 50's era. I think my parents still use theirs. :-) I am wishing you a very Merry Christmas now- I'll be a busy little bee all next week and won't be doing much visiting. I've been bad for a couple of weeks now. :-( Now you be good so Santa won't leave ya a piece of coal!
    Christmas hugs, Sue

  18. Oh Olive, I love your gingerbread cookie tree! What a delightful kitchen tree, and I also love that you hung some vintage cookie cutters on it. Your gingerbread looks great to me (I had to laugh about the autopsy table)! I would definitely have paid $5 for that pretty vintage tree. I think that wasn't a bad price for such a vintage beauty. I love it. What a lucky find! I'm so glad to have this post linked to Favorite Things Saturday, and what a kind comment you made about me in this post! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. laurie
