The web appears to be floating on the ivy.

An astute reader remarked in a comment on my post about the nest that spider webs and birds nests are similar in their intricate weaving.  The difference being that birds must find their material and spiders make theirs. Spider webs are fun to capture in images as long as I am not close to the spider. We live, part of the time, in an antebellum home that is brimming with wolf spiders and we have an understanding. The understanding is that they cannot be view in the five rooms we use. If in view then they have to go. I fully realize they are hiding in all those nooks and crannies that comprise an old house.
If I thought about it for long, which I do not, I would never sleep there. Joe is completely unaware of the spiders. I swear he does not see them.
He has no spidey sense.

joy and peace

  1. Olive, I always say, I like looking at spiders on the bottom of my shoe. LOL If I see those hairy spiders...I feel every hair on my head tingle. I try not to bother spiders unless they are in the house, then that's my area...goodbye spider. That was a good picture of a web. Have a happy Easter. Smiles, Susie(She Junks)

  2. I have the same, 'live and let live' attitude unless whatever it is gets too bold. Men either can's see bugs or pretend they can't so they don't have to remove them! ~ Maureen

  3. Spiders do not bother me and I like the fact that they eat up the flies!
You have captured the web beautifully on the ivy - really good.

  4. Great photo. I'm afraid that I don't like spiders either. I can still remember as a little girl when I found a spider in my bedroom, and I wouldn't go in there again until my dad actually produced the said spider to prove that I could safely go in there again! Silly really, isn't it, because they are so tiny compared to us! Happy Easter to you, Joe and family.

  5. Wolf spiders ugh! My dad captured spider webs. Light spray with white paint, then apply black construction paper. He framed them up for his kids for Christmas one year. Have a nice weekend.

  6. That web is so pretty Olive!... I just can't kill a spider... if one gets inside, Jack and I get out "transport kit" and catch them and put them in the garden... Happy Easter to you and Joe!... xoxo Julie Marie

  7. Spiders in general......I don't want them near me. I don't mind seeing those hammock spider webs in the morning though. Probably because I've not noticed a spider in the vicinity....

  8. My husband gathers up a spider in his hand if found inside the house and frees it outdoors. I use a shoe and knock the snot out of them. Love to photograph them, but don't want them coming inside to visit.

I adore your comments. They are like finding unexpected chocolates. olive
