~ironstone and chocolate birds nests~

Happy Friday My Fine Feathered Friends

CC and I made Chocolate Birds Nests badly yesterday.
I will not be sharing the recipe.

I ran across these six Homer Laughlin China platters at our Catholic thrift store.
 I love them.
I cannot lift them.
But I love them.

Next time I melt chocolate in a double boiler I will slow down and let the water simmer.
I have a need for speed.
It must come from working in that fast paced hospital.

Have a terrific weekend.

Thrifty Finds and I Am Online

The portable internet device arrived at 4pm yesterday.
I had it assembled in two minutes flat.
I called the Verizon lady and she was impressed with my tech ability.
I told her it was sheer desperation.
I did not say I was slightly tipsy from shoulder pain medicine.
The shoulder is somewhat better today and I am resisting the garden but it is hard.
Thanks for all your well wishes yesterday.

CC has started her two English papers she is writing over spring break and had her
uncle who is far sharper than I here late into the night helping her.

In other news here at Olive Out my sister-in-law and I went garage salen on Saturday and I have not shared her stellar finds with you.  I went sans coffee and walked right by several goodies like a complete nut.

How about this double headed concrete ram?
It has fabulous patina and I walked right by it.
Sue did not.
 It was five dollars.

Sue bought this animal print ottoman also for five dollars.
 I never saw it.
No Coffee.

About two hours into the morning I started to come around and bought this
 cheese dome on Dansk china.
It was four dollars.

I bought the William Rogers silver plated pitcher with decorative handle
 and spout for four dollars.
The top was bent just a little and Joe fixed it for me.
The Reed and Barton pitcher behind it is another thrifty find.
The mini silver cake dome, which makes me smile,
came from Goodwill for $1.21 for goodness sakes.

Still Blogging At The Goodwill Cafe

Sitting here at the Goodwill Cafe eating a BLT sandwich
and wishing my internet device to arrive this week.
What was stated to be "overnight" delivery is actually "priority mail" which can be three days.

I should have stayed in my dark cave of a room and slept all day yesterday.

But facing the day is always what I must do.
Yesterday I hurt my right shoulder working in the garden.
My doctor would not call in a medicine I use routinely because my labs were not in my file.
I had them drawn in February. It was one of those let's bang our head against a wall moments.
By 5pm it was sorted out but I was exhausted from phone calls and waiting on the "overnight" package that was not to arrive.

I cannot sit here for long because of the shoulder pain and maybe if I am home the package might arrive. If I hold my breath and the planets align.

Thanks to all of you for your comments about my hastily arranged cloches despite my inability to comment.

Blogging Cloches At The Goodwill Cafe

My internet has been intermittent to none since Saturday evening.
I have spent the past what feels like tens hours, but was really one, at the Verizon store getting it sorted out. The efficient young lady is having my portable internet devise shipped overnight to me. CC and I are computing at our Goodwill Cafe while drinking some delicious coffee drink swathed in whipped cream. This works out really well for me as I can blog then shop in the GoodBooks store and  in the large Goodwill store. We have a luxury Goodwill as you can see and they are currently building a hospitality training center next to it.

In the midst of having no connection and seven hours of gardening yesterday
I did snap some quick cloche images.
I removed the milk glass and placed some sacred objects in the cloches.

We will not be able stay here for a sustained amount of time and I may not be
able to visit with you my friends.
