Mantle: Rescued

 Hello Friends

I had seen this mantle a while ago.

 I recently decided it could be rescued.

 One leg of it was shorter than the other. 

Some well meaning person had added a board to it. 

Joe removed the board and trimmed the other side.

It is old and has hand forged square nails in it. 

 It has to lean because I am not willing to move the French coat of arms

 or put nails in the stone of the fireplace. Yikes y'all I need to dust.

I added couple of other chippy items under it. 

Yes, the cactus is blooming now. 

In Olive Out news I have been diagnosed with a frozen shoulder. 

I am busily engaged with Physical Therapy biweekly. Joe and I are still cleaning up after the ice storm. The FEMA guys did arrive last week and picked up our curb limbs and cut trees. I unfortunately have lifted too many tree limbs since the storm.

French Sign

  With plaster over metal and at about five feet in length this French sign is almost more than I could handle. I wrangled it into my Mini Cooper anyway. It just fit.

My intention was to sell it until we hung it on the fireplace. 

Game Over. Keeping it I am.

Amour Fait Beaucoup translates to love is much.

I did not aim for all that gilt in our living room. 

I  thrifted my way there. 

With our country braided rug and slip covered beach furniture it is an eclectic look. 

The whole room is not pictured because the fireplace is lit.  

All the hearth items are scattered about. 

It is still cold here and the snow has not melted.

The plaster has some damage but I don't mind.

 I have no idea of the age of this variation on the French coat of arms.  

Where did I find it?

At one of my favorite antique/junk stores.

 It was laying on a twin bed.

 Buried a bit and challenging to see. 

That gilt winked at me.

Estate Sale Pottery

Good Monday Morning Friends. I hope you all had a wonderful Father's day weekend. Joe, CC, and I did. I took Joe to brunch at Juniper in Ridge Spring, South Carolina after church. We had shrimp gumbo and magical grits I tell you.

 Then we went to day two of a terrific estate sale where an interesting woman was moving to Hawaii and did not wish to ship her vintage and antique items. Lucky us. Hence I obtained the white tureen above.

The platter is from France and is a charmingly crazed old piece. The little green pitcher is Western Stoneware from Monmouth Illinois. I cannot find this piece anywhere online to date it or determine it's value. Right now ebay has only seven Monmouth pieces for sale that I could locate.

How about a little estate sale bling? This necklace, likely from the 1950's, is gorgeous. The earrings are not bad either.

This vintage evening bag appears dirty but it is actually some sort of patina on that surface which may be ivory or bone. It is much prettier in person.

I want to thank all of you who commented on the last post Tied To A Place. Those were the best and most well written comments I have received since my Hold Everything Lightly Series.
