Passion Flowers grow wild in our lot next door.
I planted two in the flower garden last year and they were so invasive I had to rip them out.
I visit them now. Much simpler.
On Olive Out news I appreciate all your honest comments about the new header. I have continued to fiddle with it today and gave the blog a new template in the process. My old Minima Stretch Template needed to go. This is a Simple Template. I am having to downsize all my images and I like large images. My head is aching as it does when I fiddle with the design of this blog. I also have some HTML code to edit but first I am taking a break and will visit with you my friends. Editing code is so over my head it makes me extremely anxious. I have decided I am in charge of this blog and I am learning all the ins and outs of it. Even if it gives me a migraine which it might.
While the word for the day may be simple nothing I have done is.

joy and peace

Olive your web site looks good to me and I love the new header. Lately my internet has gone so slow and videos take an age to download. When I type something in the comments a little gremlin suddenly kicks in and I lose it all and have to retype:( Doh - where's the paracetamol?
ReplyDeleteMolly I also have an issues with comments sometimes. It could be the site is busy or it could be our pc's.
Deletewhat a gorgeous flowers. so lovely!! would love to see it in person ... what a great share. (:
ReplyDeleteHi, Olive
ReplyDeleteHave you thought of resizing your photos to make them larger? I know you like PicMonkey; under the Basic Edits the last item is "Resize". In my case, I put the first number at 740 and the second number automatically adjusts itself. You may want to try different first numbers to see which gives you the size you want.
Then, when you add the photo into your post you choose the "Original" size option. Now, the thing is, it won't get even larger when you click on it, but that's not a concern for me.
Like you, I like a bigger photo. There may well be another way to do this, it was trial and error on my part. :)
-Karen
All my images are resized to 800 pixels for the initial number Karen. I had XL images on the blog before and now will use L. The resizing helps with storing them in Picasa. Saves space.
DeleteI've been adding my projects to my sidebar, so same thing. Lots of code. My head hurts. I think I'm about cross-eyed. I have babied my two passion vines. I have about two flowers a day. I don't care if they become invasive as I love them so! But then again my thinker isn't working too well after these several hours of code, code, code...
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I know Brenda. Joe and I followed the instructions to the letter and Blogger is not allowing the changes.
DeleteI like the template you used and the changes you're making look good....it makes me nervous too when I fiddle with changes on my blog but I have learned a lot over the months by trial and error...I have a hidden blog that no one else can see that I practice on first..then when I like it, I make it part of public blog...well, the big changes anyway....love your writing..so refreshing..
ReplyDeleteLove, Mona
Looks good! Rearranging & updating is kind of daunting, but worth it when it's finished. I wish I had the tabs header thing under the top photo. I just don't know to go about that. Any tips? Is there a certain template that you must use?
ReplyDeleteYou go, girl! I've decided to hire someone to figure out templates, then teach me. I'll have fun watching yours. My html is useless.
ReplyDeletePS--yours look better and better.
Olive, I just read your Friday post and today's. I like the new header. I like old wine bottles too, but I don't have any. I sometimes think it would be fun to make a bottle tree.:):) I feel sorry if you ended up with a headache. I get nervous messing with my blog...I still have not revamped it .So I will wish you lots of luck redoing yours.:):) Smiles, Susie
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting flower... not like anything I've seen before. Best of luck with the techy bloggy stuff, I just stick with what Blogger offers:@)
ReplyDeleteHi Olive, your Passion Flowers are stunning!... and I too will add that I LOVE your new header!... you have more patience than I do... I hate trying to figure blogger out!.. hope you are enjoying a beautiful weekend, xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteYou new header is gorgeous and so is the pic of the passion flower. My blog sure needs an update so I feel your migraine.
ReplyDeleteJust ask a question on the Blogger Help Desk and I'm sure they will get back to you shortly. Ha!!! Seriously though, sometimes I just have to sleep on it and I come up with the answer in the middle of the night. I know that Pinterest was having issues due to the storms in the Midwest and East Coast yesterday, so maybe some things are wacky with Blogger for the same reason?
ReplyDeleteAren't these flowers unusual and exotic! This one is stunning! And I like your new header...it looks great! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteTry using X-large images but instead of center put them on the left... that should do it.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Chania!
DeleteI like you header Olive! As far as images and templates..I just fiddle til I get it right, and yes I do get a migraine in the meantime.
ReplyDeleteI do like Passion Flowers, but know that they can be rather rampant.
ReplyDeleteFor me, your new format looks better. Previously the print used to be very small and then suddenly it would jump to a larger size. Now it is just a larger sized print without the jump, if you understand what I mean. It all looks and seems much smoother.
I must say that I fiddle around with blogger, but then if things go wrong I regret what I have done. Having said that, it was experimenting and playing around that I was able to achieve my round photos.
Love your header. Really cool looking. I love anything a little different from everyone elses. :))
ReplyDeleteI like using Blogger design template. It offers sooo much and it is sooo easy.
You might go into it and click on LAYOUT...you can scoot your sidebar over more to allow room for the larger photos in the body of your posts.
I think everyone does things differently. Your blog dress looks good to me.
Photoscape is, by far, the easiest way to resize, add frames, color, just about anything you might want to do. It offers TONS of layouts for collages...plus some just plain fun ways to play with your photos. I use it for ALL my photos and it's fast and easy. You might want to try it for resizing your photos.
ANYway...things look great here.

Olive, I've already given you a thumbs up on the new header. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAs for the larger photos, I switched to the new Blogger format. it allows one to super size their photo. Finally I can have large photos. I always tried to change the HTML format in the past, but it never worked for me. I've been very pleased.

Passion Flowers are gorgeous, but as you said invasive. I visit some of them around here too, but don't need another vine to fight with! Don't let Blogger get you down! Ann
ReplyDeleteAnything pertaining to the design of my blog makes me nervous if I'm trying to do it myself. That's why my header is STILL the same as when I started! Ha! Love that passion flower. Wish they would grow wild at my house!
ReplyDeleteI've been absent for a while because I needed a break and also have had lots of company and time away. I think your new banner is very creative and cool. I really like it! I know, blogger can give us all a headache. What I do is edit in picmonkey(or whatever)in their normal size and when I do my post on blogger I click on large or extra large. I never worry about the size in the editing site, I just change it when I post on blogger.
ReplyDeleteI have been catching up on your posts and the CC story was sad but with a very beautiful ending.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
PS. Yes, the passion flower vine if very invasive. I also just visit them now. Have a great weekend. XO
ReplyDeleteOlive,
ReplyDeleteI choose to be uneducated when it comes to tweaking things on the computer. This includes my blog. So I salute you for all your hard work! I find it overwhelming.
The passion flower vine is, well, passionate looking, and I guess the invasiveness kind of goes along with that. Hope you were able to rid your garden of it. I'm glad you can still visit it!
Hi Olive. I must admit that your blog looks very clean and fresh, and uncluttered. I love it! The passion flowers are beautiful. I didn't realize that they spread like that.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen that flower before. It is so unique! And I love the new header. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Visiting from SSS.
