Yard Sale Part One

farmers market athens may 2010 012

It’s nearly five am. Yikes! I have been awake since four. Crazy I know. I’m cooking turkey sausages for my lovey.

At six am we walk down the hill and start our YARD sale. WOO HOO! It’s going to be a blast. I hope. Our neighbors are super duper organized. There is a sign every which way you turn to get into this neighborhood.

I shall report back later. If I survive the one hundred degree heat it is supposed to be here today! HeHe

I have had a LOT of coffee…you noticed yet?

LiFe iS FAst DyE YOuR HaiR

Life is Fast Dye Your Hair. That's the slogan on the hair color we used for my daughter's hair on Tuesday. The brand is Manic Panic. It does not inspire confidence. The idea was for the color to be hot pink. Well. Not. So. Much.

The girl, okay she was maybe twenty, who sold it to us had blue hair. I found this to be immensely helpful and encouraging. She told us exactly what to do. She explained to CC how to make the color last a while. That's a good thing because I may never use that color in our house again.

It's not Pink. It's PURPLE. With pink highlights. It was messy. There was hair dye everywhere. This stuff does not come in a kit. I had some gloves for staining furniture. Thank You Lord. Still. The instructions said to keep the dye one half inch from the scalp. Funny. Her scalp is purple. My hands are purple. The sink, two days later is purple. It's stainless steel. Rubbing alcohol saved our skin. The purple sink is growing on me.

How does CC look? She is stunning. I think because we choose to color the whole head of hair. It looks better than streaks. She is eighteen. If one is going purple, blue, or pink that's the time.

Thanks for the pink thoughts....I know they were secretly purple thoughts. Wink.

We Are All Mad Here

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat, " we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad"

"How do you know I'm mad?" asked Alice.

"You must be." said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

The Cheshire Cat rightfully says we are all mad here. This whole dialogue brings me to appreciate Alice in Wonderland immensely. I myself am feeling rather mad today. Trying to pass a 4mm stone through a 2mm opening. Defying the laws of physics. That's me. Not that I am brave. No bravery here. Would rather be doing eleventy thousand other things.

Dr. Cutie Pie, he is oh so handsome, says there is a fifty fifty chance I can pass this pebble. All the carnage being wrought by it is a "good sign". I was afraid to inquire about bad signs. Did I type pebble? In my narcotic-crazed mind rock is a more appro noun. The madness of the pain is difficult to describe. Passing shards of old Coca Cola bottles is close but not quite. The Cat nailed it for we all all mad here.
