Crazy Lamp Lady Explained

One could easily ask if I am becoming the crazy lamp lady?
It would be a legitimate question.
Do you recall last weeks lamp and shade?

Just so you know Joe and I have a lamp clinic, of sorts, here.
 He can rewire them.
I rebuild parts missing with epoxy and then paint them.
Broken lamps are always a steal.
I never admit I can repair them.
I rebuilt a rose, last month, on an oriental lamp.
 It sold quickly.
I am not keeping this large, heavy urn shaped lamp.
Please forgive me the wonky shade.
The pineapple lamp is coming back to this spot.
I seem to have a knack for finding lamps, with potential,
 at estate and garage sales.
Or do they find me?

Sometimes we find lamp parts at Habitat For Humanity Restore.
I keep harps and finials in a drawer and spare shades in an extra closet.
I am forever switching shades with different lamps that I find.
Restoring lamps and selling them has become a team project we both enjoy.

joy and peace

  2. That's a beaut! I go in phases of lamp addiction. Right now, I am off so I can enjoy yours for now:)

  3. I've always wanted to learn how to wire a lamp! What a "BRIGHT" idea!

    Happy Monday!

  4. Hi Olive... I think the lamps find you, because they know you and Joe appreciate them and will restore them to their former beauty... so pretty!... xoxo Julie Marie

  5. What an industrious little team you and Joe are. Hope you are feeling much better now Olive.

  6. If you enjoy what you are doing, then keep doing it! :)

  7. I think the lamps find you! Nice that you and Joe are a team and are restoring the lamps for others to enjoy.

  8. Lamps know they have a good home with you, Olive.

  9. Well one would say that you have a wonderful skill for repairing lamps and that you and Joe are quite a team! Enjoy your day, Gail

  10. I think it's cool that you have a talent for putting lamps and such together. It's neat that it's something you and your husband both enjoy.

  11. That is great that you can repair broken lamps and resale them. My husband can wire things, too if I ever need him to.

  12. I love this one and it's fun to find something special and make it even better! Sweet hugs!

  13. I love lamps too! Trouble is, I keep all of them! :) Love the lamp you showed above. It's great you two can work on them together.

  14. Hi Olive! Oh, I love your pretty lamp and you've set up a lovely display too. So glad to know you and hubby can bring these little beauties back to life!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  15. That's a beauty. I wish I could fix broken lamp parts. Well done!

    Mary Alice

  17. Olive, I like you fix them up and keep them going. They look great too. Smiles, Susie

  18. Hi Olive! Fun stopping in to visit with you. I like the style of this lamp. Great that you can fix them up!

Noticed a very cute pup on your sidebar :) My maiden name was Shelley.

  19. Olive,
I have to say I'm somewhat addicted to lamps myself, as you said, you can find them so inexpensively at thrift stores and yard sales! My goal is to learn how to rewire them. The biggest problem I run into is the on and off switch not working. Between the 2 of you, you've got it down and your lamps are lovely!
Interesting to know you live near Statesboro, I ejoy visiting down there and will be back Nov. 10th for the wedding in Savannah. Keeping my fingers crossed that we will have perfect weather!

  20. I saw the best lamp today! And I'm not a lamp person per se. It was ridiculously priced at a thrift around here, but I suspect it was priced that way because it was so special. It was a rooster lamp and I'm not a rooster gal, but I would have snapped this one up because of the positioning of the shade, the type of shade and the quality of the rooster. Guess that's why it was 100$! I need to stay away from the upscale "thrifts", but they are fun to look through. Ann P.S. The fact that you and Joe can rewire and fix them up between you is golden! I need to learn...

  21. That is a great lamp! I have two lamps in our basement that came from my grandpas. One is a three-way with a night light in the base - the other is an inlaid wood that my carpenter grandpa made. Both are waiting for me to get busy and rewire them! I know the parts are available. Maybe this post is the incentive I needed!

  22. I love those itty bitty lamps! They always seem to come home with me from estate sales. Yours are wonderful. Show us more Olive!

  23. Hi Olive, I'm new to your blog. Found you through your link on Brenda's Tweak it Tuesday post. Just spent some time looking through your blog and love it! I'll be adding your blog to my side bar of "beautiful blogs". I also followed you on Pinterest. Hope that you'll visit me over at my blog and become a new follower. Looking forward to getting to "know" you!

  25. What a talent! I'm envious. I love vintagae lamps too, but hate fixing them up. What a team!

  26. Maybe you are the "lamp whisperer..."

  27. Love the dog under glass on the table. I was thinking you were keeping all these lamps. Thought maybe it was awfully dark down there in the South.

    1. I want to keep them all. Yes I do. I my inside photos it sure seems dark but it's quite sunny.

  28. First, I love the stack of bases. That's a neat idea!

Yes, you do have the charm. I can find lamps and I can find shades and parts. Actually have quite a collection if all. But do you think I can ever match one with another? Nooooo. So I have lamps and I have shades and I have parts. Sigh.

  29. I love playing with lamps, too! Yours is lovely! My hubby does the re-wiring, but I think I would like to learn how myself, too! I am working on an old popsicle stick lamp right now...I can just imagine someone building it years ago...

  30. I love the big chunky lamp, and the dog under glass is a cute addition to the table.

  31. I love lamps too, and the vignette you created is wonderful!
    Have3 a great week!

    White Spray Paint

  32. What a gorgeous vignette Olive! And I am another crazy lamp lady!...Chair lady...doll lady... bust lady...OK I'm just plum crazy lol! I need to take some fix it lessons from you because I find so many really beautiful lamps that are broken. What did you use to rebuild the broken rose? Was the lamp porcelain? Enquiring minds would love to know *winks* Vanna

I adore your comments. They are like finding unexpected chocolates. olive
