Gallery Wall

 Adjusting the gallery wall oil paintings, prints, and frames has been

 an off and on summer passion. 

Not that I measure. 

Joe would use a level and a ruler. 

Every picture or painting is a thrifty find save for the central white matted one.

 The Talented B and I found the alabaster lamp in a junk shop. 

I had no cash and she sweetly paid for it. 

It is a good idea to have cash on you while thrifting. 

I have a more-is-more-style. 

I am not finished with the gallery wall or corner.

 It has gaps.

 I would like a pair of small oil paintings inside the vintage rectangular frame. 

 I am always looking for old oval frames.

 This is the other side of the corner and it needs more something.

That is CC at age three.

In Olive Out news I am doing fine after the procedure yesterday.

 I am staying in the house and being entertained by Gremmie and Shelley.

Living Room Vignette

Good morning friends. 

I am happy all of you enjoyed yesterdays post with Shelley, Gremmie,and CC. 

We do love our babies. I drank in all of your comments.

When those photos happened I was actually attempting to take photos of the living room. 

The playful cat and dog would not have it.

The vignette of Marie 

 on the old white TV table changed a little bit. 

I placed an urn of faux flowers with sunflowers there.

 Then added a pair of white finials.

This flower arrangement was for sale in our booth and did not sell.

Do you like it? I am thinking about it still.

 I am partial to fresh flowers from my garden.

  Remember the thrifted lamp and Target shade? 

The finials were a birthday present.

I am still happy about this thrifted small oil painting dated 1951.

 It is older than me too. 

Straying over to the dining table to a lone image of a huge Charleston seagrass basket 

that I bought at Ridge Antiques.

 Shelley had been eating the vintage blocks which were closer to the floor. 

My Chuckle Heads keep me on my toes. 

No wonder I am tired.

Brown Transferware Fills An Armoire

This armoire has been partially painted and distressed by my antique booth buddy B.

 We filled it with brown and white transferware.

We sold several pieces of furniture and that made room for this armoire. 

Do you recognize the harlequin lamp?

 It is one of my most visited posts from 2012.

We hung thrifted black and white drapes in our two windows. 

A hippie, from the 70's, came and took the other drapes back.

We almost kissed that hippie.

 Sassy cow anyone?

Or is it a bull?

The French Girl is made from alabaster.

Vietri dishes, hand painted in Italy, are comfy in a bamboo container. 

I want them and the transferware but I am behaving y'all.

Sofa {Estate Sale Acquired} and Buying Tips

We saw this sofa on day one of the estate sale and Joe made an offer to the agent which she refused.  She did get my mobile number and called me later that night and said we could get the sofa the next morning for that amount. I actually got that price down a little bit more.

It may not be the neutral slip covered sofa from Pottery Barn that I had in mind but it has some great features. I like the fabric, the nailhead trim, that it has one long cushion, and has a 40 inch deep seat. It has much to recommend it.

Also every piece of linen and fabric in the estate sale house was custom made. As I can find no tag or label on this piece it may be custom. 

I do not show this den often because we use it as an exercise room {CC's exercise ball is in the background}, an office, and watch TV here. It basically stays in an uproar. I hang pictures and objects on the walls that make me happy. They may have no rhyme or reason for you.

My mini office with a non functional 1970's clock that makes me smile. I nearly sold this chunky lamp but it holds up well against this huge sofa.

A few tips for buying used sofas: 

Make sure there is no odor.

Make sure there is no pet hair.

Make sure there are no tears, stains, or worn areas.

Pick it up and look underneath it. The bottom fabric should be intact.

Check that the pillows are intact and are included in the price.

Sit on it.

 No sagging allowed.

Do no pay a lot of money for a used sofa.

Bargain nicely.

Be patient. 

What I am looking for usually turns up and I never buy new.

Yellow Pottery

Yellow pottery makes me happy. Sometimes I have to work hard for this pottery by buying incredibly dirty objects. That yellow bowl is a McCoy planter which was one dollar. Hang on y'all there is an overload of yellow in this vignette but I am loving it.

This urn, in the cloche, was filthy and covered in grease but pristine when I washed it. I paid six dollars for it. Had it been clean it would have been twenty dollars. The little planters are vintage as well. The bottom one is a McCoy.

The vintage 1970's ginger jar lamp had not been dusted since 1980 at least {really people}. The shade was horrid but I paid two dollars and fifty cents for it. I checked that it had no cracks or chips on it and placed my own shade and finial. I have seen these sell for an enormous amount of money on One Kings Lane. I like this lamp so much it has replaced my beloved pineapple lamp.

Linens, Frame, Lamp

Matelasse coverlets, spreads, and shams sell well for me. This one needed work but hot water, time, and OxyClean transformed it. Matelasse gives a bed character and texture. All items shown on this post Joe and I picked up, last Saturday, while thrifting.

These are basically new matelasse shams in down pillow inserts. I wash every item in hot water and OxyClean before it is sold. I iron frequently and adore my large Rowneta iron (found at an estate sale). Yes, I am a freak.

This is a sexy little black lamp. I am surely the Crazy Lamp Lady as I have sold many lamps and have lamps sitting all over the house in various states of repair. 

I am keeping this large Florentine tray for myself. I find these pieces which are made in Italy off and on and I like them. They sell for a nice sum on One Kings Lane too. It will be useful and beautiful at Christmas.

This is one of a pair of 11" X 20" frames in a primitive wood that is both rustic and lovely. I can picture an ironstone platter hanging in them. I have no room for them. Drats. This is a small sample of what I delivered to The Rusty Gate in Tennille, Georgia on Friday.

Junking Finds

 Joe and I basically filled the pick up truck with Shabby Chic items, on Saturday, from one persons moving sale. Not shown are five Simply Shabby Chic (Target) tablecloths that I have already ironed and have ready to sell. I am keeping  two of them. I also washed and ironed six white drapery panels. I may keep those as well. I am an awful seller.

 I ironed for three hours yesterday, cooked garlic bread and bought dessert for twenty teenage boys (Joe helped), and fell in bed exhausted. Four hundred volunteers assisted in feeding, housing, and transporting three hundred kids to our 180 Weekend at church. One of those kiddos was my nephew and we are extremely proud of him.

Pottery Barn Outlet Spring 2013

 Pottery Barn Outlet was brimming with Easter items this visit. You could not walk for tripping over a cotton pickin rabbit. I saw not one cross. The Eiffel Tower pillow cover was pretty and selling fast.

A slip covered Carlise sofa was priced for $999.00. Two thoughts kept me from taking it home. I was not driving the truck and I cannot spare that amount of money right now. But still, what a fabulous price. I will be quiet now for this photo heavy post. All images taken with my iPhone. Technically they do not allow photos. I misbehave for you my darling readers.

 I bought two Turkish hand towels for $1.97 each, on clearance, and one other small item. Walking out of there for less than twenty dollars was not bad at all.
