The Fair comes to Augusta, Georgia every October.
I fondly remember going, when I was a small child, with my older brother.
We would tear through the house looking for loose change to fund our excursion.
I went on one of my first dates to the fair and have not returned until now thirty years later.
It has not changed except it looks smaller and perhaps dirtier.
Maybe my standards are higher now.
I did enjoy all the pastel candy colors on the rides.
The sky was blue and crisp and the colors on the seats just stood out.
These images would have been nice for the pink photo challenge!
The Top Spin is just NUTS! I do not go upside down but will gawk at those who do.
I did not catch a picture of them upside down but good grief ya’ll.
Okay, talk to me.
Do you ride the rides at theme parks or fairs?
I am linking with A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday.

I will do almost anything once. Including going upside down, but I've already done it, so no need to repeat! I've always loved the swings and the one at your fair is so pretty. Looks like fun Olive and yes, a Pink Photo Challenge would have been the perfect place to exhibit your lovely photos! Ann
ReplyDeletelovely colors against the sky blue background! I choose my rides and mostly, i don't prefer the roller coaster:) My outdoor wednesday is up here.
ReplyDeleteNo, I don´t.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice comment!
NOOOOOO....If I get on a ride - my eyes are shut! I am firmly on the ground when my children and husband get on...Nope, nope, nope! Not me!
ReplyDeleteBut, they do look lovely and colorful! The sky is so wonderful in October, isn't it!
My daughter went to the Georgia National Fair - she told me tales of riders getting sick - but, she had a blast :)
I guess I am 1/2 way between you and Susan!
God Bless,
Kathy
Nope. I'm the one that sits it out, holds the purses and, like you, takes the pix. We're very sensible don't you think ("
ReplyDeleteI don't anymore!
ReplyDeleteLove the fair! I will ride at theme parks, but not fairs, just too temporary for me.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos Olive! The blue sky is the perfect backdrop for the fair!
ReplyDeleteI love this Olive!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Outdoor Wednesday:))
Blessings to you,
Kay Ellen
Olive,
ReplyDeleteThe pictures on your post are glorious. Absolutely glorious.
No, I don't ride. I'm very lame that way.
I used to love getting on the rides but now my neck just can not take them any more. Wonderful photos, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHello Olive... those are fabulous photos! No, I don't ride the rides anymore... we have a spectacular amusement park called Lagoon that is ten minutes away from me... I have not been there in years... (the Beach Boys even sang a song about it!)... I think I could still handle the Merry~go~Round though... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteI love the colors on these rides, but pink IS my favorite color! ~ I don't do the rides anymore. I started getting motion sickness in my mid twenties so that has done me in as far as the rides go!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! Olive, you have some amazing captures in this post. That swing thing (sorry, don't know the name of it) is so decorative!
ReplyDeleteHappy Outdoor Wednesday!
XO,
Sheila :-)
I love fairs too! I suppose I rode the rides when I was a kid but I'm sure not that now. I don't enjoy getting scared anymore! It looked like a beautiful day. Beautiful bright photos.
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos! Love all the detail & contrast with that clear blue sky!
ReplyDeleteI adore carnie rides!!! Tilt-A-Whirl, Scrambler, The Himalayan... all so fun! But Himself gets motion sick. SIGH! Now I have a thrill seeker baby niece whom I will someday introduce to the fun!
ReplyDelete~*LOVE your images!! Beautiful colors!! Yes I love rides!!!~*~*Hugs,Rachel~*~
ReplyDeleteNo way José!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures, Olive!!!
Those are great photos! I don't ride the rides at the fair...but I still love to go!
ReplyDeleteEver since I about passed out my senior year of hs, I limit it to certain ones..No upside down, no backwards, and no circles(except the merry go round, which I always panic isn't going to stop before I puke).
ReplyDeleteI might get on a carousel, but that's about it. Super photos Olive.
ReplyDeleteOh heavens! Great shots!
ReplyDeleteWow! Your pictures are great! I am a scared of fair rides but remember loving them when I was a kid. I could smell the corn dogs and cotton cancy in the air! YUM!
ReplyDeleteLacy
Olive, your photos are gorgeous, and the rides are such pretty colors. I didn't realize you were in Augusta. We were stationed at Fort Gordon for a short while when my husband was in the military. laurie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Olive!! Sorry though...I get motion sickness!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Great photos! I defintely do not because I easily get sick so I just go along and enjoy everyone else's excitement about going on them.
ReplyDeletea big barfy NO! But I DO love the colors!
ReplyDeletelove ya,
Debra
Hi Olive, I am crazy for old wooden rollercoasters:-)) upsidedown not so much anymore:-))))) I do have to go the Western Wa fair every few years, I know what you mean about it looked better as a kid.... it would be great to see it through those eyes again!
ReplyDeleteBella
Yes...I'm the old fool who will ride with the kids when no one else volunteers! Not as much fun as it used to be though...upside down doesn't give me the thrill it once did.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors on the swing ride. Good gravy...how old is that thing...better yet...how safe?
Debbie
P.S. Cat Daddy is in charge of the purses...he's such a girl!
Are you kidding? I only ride rides that are premanently attatched to the ground. I don't trust the ones that go up quickly and are leveled out with two by fours. You are making me hungry for corn dogs though.
ReplyDeleteNope not me I went to Six flags with a group of girls when I was 14 we rode the Scream Machine 6 times then had lunch which was spaghetti then hopped back on the Scream Machine...
ReplyDeleteNot pretty! Don't do spaghetti now either ..lol
Happy Outdoor Wednesday Thanks for stopping..
hugs from Savannah, Cherry
Olive,
ReplyDeleteNot a chance. Beautiful photos. Your blog is wonderful. I am a new follower.
Carol
I, too, love those pastel colors on the rides! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't do the rides anymore. But I used to! I went on everything in my younger days.
xo
Claudia
Great pictures. So very colorful.

There are very few fairground rides I actually will ride. Calling by from Italy on Outdoor Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI will ride ANYTHING. I'm a total thrill seeker. My teenagers balk at some of the things I'll stand in line for.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures; it looks like a perfect day.
Oh wow! What a fair! That swing is really something, so ornate. Funny isn't it? How we see things a little different these days?
ReplyDeleteI still ride the rides, some of them. Seems since I've had children my ears don't like anything too super spinny and no, even back in the day I wouldn't have gone on "the spin!"
Fabulous photos! I love the carousel.
ReplyDeleteWe had a small fair that came to our town every summer. I rode then but no way would I now.
ReplyDeleteI must admit, it has been many years since I have gone on any carnival rides! Your photos are beautiful Olive!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved the rides and the ones at your fair is fabulous. Looks like fun but I'm too old to get on them now....I hold the pocketbooks...lol.....
ReplyDeleteI used to, the faster, the higher, the better! Not anymore...see what parenthood and worrying does for ya?!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos!
Kat :)
Brilliant photos Olive! Yes I'd go on the fun fair if you'd come with me!!
ReplyDeleteGrrr. I just left a long comment but it's gone....
ReplyDeleteDon't you hate it when that happens?
SO...short answer! Yes, I LOVE fairs - the food, the people and most of all the RIDES!!
Well, not a chance. I am afraid of heights. Your photos are so vivid and beautiful. I love that big swing ride. The structure is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou took some wonderful photos Olive! I am less and less a ride goer as I am getting older. I don't mind Ferris wheels and merry go rounds but anything that hangs me upside down or is a roller coaster is O-U-T! :)
ReplyDeleteI recognize that blue Georgia sky. I live in Hoschton, Ga.
ReplyDeleteI'm your newest follower. http://moogieland.blogspot.com/
Used to...but not anymore....makes me nervous just looking at them!
ReplyDeleteThe muted tones of the Ferris Wheel are pretty and that is a spectacular Carousel.
ReplyDeleteI used to be the favorite Aunt who always rode with the kids! Now, I just get headaches from all that movement and upside down spinning. Yikes. No more rides for me. LOL
ReplyDeleteI used to - its funny what happens when you get older. But your photos are gorgeous - I love love all those colors. That Merry Go Round is beautiful - now THAT one, I still ride:)
ReplyDeleteNot unless you want to clean up the mess under foot. Tammy
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fair photos, and how I wish we still have nice weather!
