Photo Challenge: Vignette

Photo Challenge Vignette is two fold this week. The first image is the actual vignette and a subsequent one shows it in the context of the room. Here is a cloudy day vignette of my little deer. I am somewhat obsessive about keeping the yellow house neat so there is no big reveal in the fuller view image. OCD...no meds for that!

Now the living area of the yellow house and the chest with the Mid Century Modern Lamp that one of my readers told me was hideous (you know who you are). I thought that was terribly funny.

That is our daughter's picture hanging above the chest. She passed her very important test on Tuesday!
Thanks to all of you for wishing her well and we give God much credit for her sense of peace while taking the test. She has test anxiety big time.

Photo Challenge: Shadow

Chania does not disappoint.
This weeks photo challenge at Razmataz is Shadow.
I walked around the yellow house and noticed some shadows of interest.

This is the cover of the hot-tub cover which is ugly’s brother but the lattice shadows are cool.
Getting in the hot-tub in the winter is fabulous no matter how it looks.

A thrift store bird house hanging from the pergola.
The image is blurry and wiggly…ugh…me shakey.
Do stop by Chania's for more shadows.

Photo Challenge: Architectural Element

It should not be a secret to anyone reading this blog that I adore arched windows.

I visit little Southern towns and look for churches with great windows.

This grey stone church is in Edgefield, South Carolina.

It is a small Catholic Church facing a much used state highway.

The arched windows have no stained glass but have a lovely shape.

I like the somewhat severe look of this grey stone structure and the shape of the building.

We do not build buildings like this any more.

You can see other churches with arches I have taken photos of  here and here.

I will be visiting this town again as it is noteworthy for many things but one of them is turkeys.

Do You Ride?

The Fair comes to Augusta, Georgia every October.

I fondly remember going, when I was a small child, with my older brother.

We would tear through the house looking for loose change to fund our excursion.

I went on one of my first dates to the fair and have not returned until now thirty years later.

It has not changed except it looks smaller and perhaps dirtier.

Maybe my standards are higher now.

I did enjoy all the pastel candy colors on the rides.

The sky was blue and crisp and the colors on the seats just stood out.

The Top Spin is just NUTS! I do not go upside down but will gawk at those who do.

I did not catch a picture of them upside down but good grief ya’ll.

Okay, talk to me.

Do you ride the rides at theme parks or fairs?

Photo Challenge: Red

The Friday Photo Challenge at Razmataz is Red.

I had to go looking for red as we do not have much in our houses.

We found a couple of red things at garage sales on Saturday.

I never buy things just for the blog.

Both will be put to use.

A handmade toolbox which is red and rustic.

fair 031

An anchor which is a more muted red and will live somewhere in the flower garden I think.

fair 024-1

Later in the day Saturday we went to the fair and I took many photos which I will share later.

The Twinkie sign was very very red.

I just noticed that they are fried. Oh my goodness!

We do not eat fair food.

We walk around and stare at people and watch teenagers flip upside down on those worrisome rides.

Nerds. R. Us.

Please visit Chania for more reds.

Photo Challenge: Self Portrait

This Friday’s photo challenge is self portrait.

What to do?

Then I caught a glimpse of us in the mirror in the hallway.

Ten years ago it was.

Happily, I am thinner now.

I like my girl on my shoulder.

Photo Challenge: Age

A little house with chippy green paint.

On a lonely highway in the middle of rural Georgia.

It’s age is undetermined. But old enough.

The rust is just right on the roof.

It is photo challenge Friday at Razmataz.

The sun was in my eyes but somehow it worked out and this is one of my favorite images I have taken all summer.

Eggs

Eggs laying in the grass basking in the morning sun. Chania’s photo challenge this week presented another opportunity to crawl around on my abdomen in our yard. Now the neighbor’s know  I am a loon for sure.
