Teapot, Teacups, Pitchers

Good morning my friends.

This crazed, creamy, and blue teapot is the cutest. 

I found it in a junk shop.

 It is on my dining table where I have a vintage bedspread with intricate embroidery.

If you see cat hair-this is where Gremmie hangs out. 

We eat elsewhere.

Look at that old embroidery.

 Do use vintage spreads and quilts as tablecloths. 

They work quite well.

We picked up more truck loads of limbs yesterday. 

We are making progress. 

We can now walk to our mailbox unscathed.

Needlecraft Reboot

Hello friends and happy Friday.

I have not done embroidery in twenty years but have started again.

 I enjoyed this needlecraft from age fifteen until age thirty. 

Having a premature baby and working as an R.N. did not leave me creative time.

You can read about my outlandish embroidery, for my aunt, here 

in the Hold Everything Lightly Series.

This is the finished runner, blurry though it is, thanks to my assistant Gremmie. 

I found several embroidery kits for three dollars. 

The same kits sell for twenty dollars online.

Now I am working a white runner with a rose on each end. 

My stitching is improving with each piece (yay).

In Olive Out news I am doing embroidery again to relax because

 I seem unable to get myself together these days.

 I adore blogging and miss all of you. 

The connecting with you part of blogging is what I miss most. 

 I will blog when I can.

 Perhaps once to twice a week. 

I continue to have an issue with my ear.

 I had a minor surgical procedure on it about four weeks ago and it has not healed.

The bone is exposed which puts that area of the ear canal at risk for infection.

 If it does not heal I may require a surgical graft in the operating room. 

I am busy pricing Christmas items for our antiques booths.

 Christmas decor is bursting forth all over our dining room.

I'll photograph the open house for y'all.

Estate Sale Goods

We saw this massive chippy white cabinet at an estate sale on July Fourth in Wrens, Georgia. We arrived about thirty minutes after the start of the sale and it was already sold. I was sick about it.

 It has shelves inside and you can see the lovely patina. The price was good too. I apologize for the dark images but every day is a rainy day in Georgia.

This was a pretty bamboo chair.

The old wicker set is certainly charming. It has some damage but I think I could live with these pieces easily.

The chenille spread had many stains which OxyClean could have handled but I passed on this beauty too.

What did we buy? A sofa for our den. Nothing terribly exciting. Also in the worst room possible to photograph. I will post it later. When my house is clean. When the moon is full on an odd Thursday.

From Zero to Two Booths In One Hour

This is a story of two booths but more importantly of two friends. 

Several weeks ago:

Sunday night: The Talented B asks me to partner with her in her booth, The Broome Closet At Ridge Antiques, in Ridge Spring, South Carolina.

Monday: Jean from The Rusty Gate calls and says she is closing her store where I have consigned at for several years. Jean is also my friend and this was awful news

Monday: Minutes after above phone call The Talented B calls and says the owners of the antiques store approved me joining her booth.

Monday later: Jean and I talk and she encourages me to open a booth at a local flea market at Hidden Treasures in Sandersville, Georgia where she will be in July. My partner there is my SIL Sue.

 I know God had his hand in this flurry of phone calls and sudden changes. I am blessed to have wonderful loyal friends like these.

Two weeks ago Joe and I set up the flea market booth. Essentially I have been getting items and shopping for two booths simultaneously . 

It's been fun, crazy, and exhausting. These two booths are one hundred miles apart by the way. The saving grace is our houses are near each one.

These images are all from Ridge Antiques. Our booth is named The Broome Closet.  Talented B had a store with that name and the owners of this business invited her into a booth here. The Broome Closet is on Facebook here.

 She's something serious. She restored this dresser. She also paints furniture beautifully. I will be sharing her painted furniture on this blog.

 Oops my iPhone is not for sale.

Talented B has an enormous stash of monogrammed linens in the booth.

 I love vintage monograms.

I have some questions for you all who have booths. 

When do you do laundry?

Where do you find time to blog?

When do you vacuum?

I am curious, yes I am :}

Just to add to all these "goings on," as my mama would say, I have two spider bites resulting in severe cellulitis. Also our daughters from Alabama are arriving Friday and bringing the darling Mini Wee's who are staying for two weeks!

Linens, Frame, Lamp

Matelasse coverlets, spreads, and shams sell well for me. This one needed work but hot water, time, and OxyClean transformed it. Matelasse gives a bed character and texture. All items shown on this post Joe and I picked up, last Saturday, while thrifting.

These are basically new matelasse shams in down pillow inserts. I wash every item in hot water and OxyClean before it is sold. I iron frequently and adore my large Rowneta iron (found at an estate sale). Yes, I am a freak.

This is a sexy little black lamp. I am surely the Crazy Lamp Lady as I have sold many lamps and have lamps sitting all over the house in various states of repair. 

I am keeping this large Florentine tray for myself. I find these pieces which are made in Italy off and on and I like them. They sell for a nice sum on One Kings Lane too. It will be useful and beautiful at Christmas.

This is one of a pair of 11" X 20" frames in a primitive wood that is both rustic and lovely. I can picture an ironstone platter hanging in them. I have no room for them. Drats. This is a small sample of what I delivered to The Rusty Gate in Tennille, Georgia on Friday.

Junking Finds

 Joe and I basically filled the pick up truck with Shabby Chic items, on Saturday, from one persons moving sale. Not shown are five Simply Shabby Chic (Target) tablecloths that I have already ironed and have ready to sell. I am keeping  two of them. I also washed and ironed six white drapery panels. I may keep those as well. I am an awful seller.

 I ironed for three hours yesterday, cooked garlic bread and bought dessert for twenty teenage boys (Joe helped), and fell in bed exhausted. Four hundred volunteers assisted in feeding, housing, and transporting three hundred kids to our 180 Weekend at church. One of those kiddos was my nephew and we are extremely proud of him.

Cabbage Rose Kitchen Curtains

I made these cafe curtains from a twin sheet for our yellow house kitchen. I do not sew other than hand sewing and embroidery. I used fusible webbing to hem the raw edges. I found the twin sheet, with cabbage roses, at the Catholic Thrift Store for two dollars. My previous Ikea black and white cafe curtains were also from that thrift store. I find terrific new and vintage linens there. These curtains are perfectly imperfect and will be  fine here for a while.

The blue painting I had here did not work so I hung this floral oil painting I found at another thrift store for ten dollars. Forgive my lack of sun as I quickly snapped these images in the little bit of sun we had yesterday. It has been raining for ages here.

I had fun with .99 cent pineapples from our new Aldi's. I place the rinds and core in a jar with water and refrigerate it and drink the juice after a couple of days.

 I found the cafe curtain clips at an estate sale on Saturday, new, for $1.50 a package.  I left the curtains this longer length so that I can raise and lower them. We watch birds and can easily see them when the curtains are in the middle of the window. Total cost for the simple sheet cafe curtains was five dollars.

Clovis and I traveled to the old house yesterday and all things here are tricky. 

It is difficult to post, comment, heck it may rain in the bedroom or pantry any minute.

 Life sweet life.

Bye Bye Pom Poms

This chenille spread covers our vintage 1960's rattan sofa. 

It protects the sofa from Shelley, our German Shepherd, who loves to regally lay on the sofa with all of his eighty pounds.

Evidently the chenille spread needs protection too.

Shelley systematically removes the pom poms and is proud

 of himself for doing so.

This is the opposite corner of the spread almost pompomless.
